SOGO Dunhua holds clearance sale ahead of closure on Dec. 14

SOGO Dunhua holds clearance sale ahead of closure on Dec. 14

2025-12-12

After 31 years in business, the Dunhua branch of the SOGO department store in Taipei is set to shut down on Dec. 14, due to an expiring lease. Before its imminent closure, the department store has put on a clearance sale that’s increased shopper volumes by 50%, and has doubled and even tripled some sales.

The store will hold a farewell event on Sunday, to thank shoppers for their support over the past few decades. After the closure, employees and major brands will be transferred to the Fuxing branch or to the Taipei Dome shopping area set to open next year. It remains unknown what will happen to the building itself. A redevelopment plan for luxury apartments has stalled, and Eslite has denied rumors about plans to move in.
