Only direct flight route to Boracay getting canceled

2025-12-24

Taiwan’s only direct flight route to Boracay in the Philippines is getting the chop. Budget airline Royal Air Philippines has announced the suspension of the service starting Jan. 4 next year.

The winter break is peak season for Boracay, and travel agencies are expecting significant losses of NT$2 to NT$3 million, especially due to the impact on charter flights. Travelers are expected to change their itineraries, and hotel bookings that have already been made are non-refundable. Usually flights with a layover would go for NT$7,000 to NT$8,000; but already, prices have soared to more than NT$10,000, and seats are hard to come by.
