With commodity prices soaring, everyone is looking for cheap meal options. Amazingly, a restaurant in Taipei’s upmarket Xinyi District is managing to offer an all-you-can-eat vegetarian buffet for only NT$80. Another restaurant offers an all-you-can eat hotpot and teppanyaki combo, including drinks and ice cream, for just NT$280. For people living paycheck to paycheck, these restaurants are life savers.

It’s all run by our family, which reduces labor costs. We also buy our own vegetables from the wholesale market at 3 or 4 in the morning, so they’re cheaper. This significantly lowers our costs, which is why we can maintain these prices.
If you’re looking for something more hearty, there are also other affordable options. At this restaurant, you can put ingredients one by one into a hot pot, while next to it chunks of meat are sizzling on a grill. There are five different soup bases to choose from, and you also get drinks and ice cream, all for NT$280. You can eat as much as you want with unlimited dining time.

“我們都是自己家人在做，少了人事成本，然後菜我們也是，自己早上三、四點，去批發市場買，所以也比較便宜，所以成本降低比較多，所以才能維持這個價格”
想吃澎湃點，也有平價選擇，火鍋料一一放下鍋，一旁還有肉塊在鐵板上滋滋作響，火烤兩吃光是湯底就有5種選擇，還有飲料、冰淇淋，只要280元，不限時任你吃。
