Fire hydrant blasts torrent of water for more than an hour

The sound of water can be relaxing, but not when it’s pouring out in a torrent from a malfunctioning fire hydrant. That was the scene capture on video in Banqiao, where a malfunction is thought to have cause water to shoot out onto the street on Monday evening. The incident continued for a whole hour, and even on Tuesday morning, local shopkeepers had to give their businesses a thorough wash before opening for the day. Let’s hear more.

It’s ridiculous. The sound was terrifying. I thought the whole thing would be flooded since the water just kept pouring out all the way to the morning. The fans and dehumidifiers got wet, so I had to take them out. It’s such a pain.

It’s thought the jet of water was caused by a fire hydrant malfunction. Even the next day, the whole area was wet.

It happened suddenly. It just broke down. So we dealt with the emergency and called technicians. We’re looking for the reason why it happened. Perhaps somebody touched it or something.

The switch might have short-circuited. The hydrant can be activated from two locations, one is from the fire control room in the basement, and the other is on the ground floor. If the remote-activation switch short-circuited, it could be that the protective cover was blown off by the spray, or there was no protective cover to begin with, which is what caused all the water to blast out.
The water sprayed all over the street, which has now been left with a muddy brown residue. Nearby businesses say they were deeply affected, and they had to clean up and mop the water away even hours later. The apartment complex where the fire hydrant is located is investigating what could have caused the malfunction.

板橋消防採水口"大噴水" 水漫流1小時造成淹水

有民眾昨晚經過新北板橋一處社區，直擊噴泉奇景！發現這處「消防採水口」大噴水，持續至少一小時，還造成附近淹水。今天一早，旁邊店家開店前先忙著清理，直呼很困擾。社區也無奈說，疑似是故障，也還在了解原因當中。

“很離譜，聽到那水很恐怖，我說今天來一定淹水啊，晚上一直流，流到早上，電風扇，除濕機全部搬出來，這樣很困擾耶”

“當時這個消防栓疑似故障大噴水，可以看到隔天一早，地面都還是溼答答”

“是突然這樣子的，是有一點故障，所以就緊急處理，找了機電的，然後今天就在搜尋原因，到底怎麼會(這樣) ，是(不是)有人碰到什麼”

“開關可能短路了，兩個地方可以啟動這個，一個是在消防機房，在地下室，一個就是在地面上，在地面層這個，遠端啟動開關它短路，是不是保護蓋被噴飛，還是原本就沒有保護蓋，所以就水整個大量噴出來”
水量之多，甚至流到大馬路上，只是看看這水是"土黃色"的。旁邊店家首當其衝大遭殃，隔天一早，水都還沒退，拿著拖把、工具，忙著清理，社區還在查故障原因，只是這突然一噴，也成為網路熱門話題。
