Thai sisters serve up boat noodles with Taiwanese twist

Have you ever had authentic Thai boat noodles? Tucked away in Keelung is a small shop run by three Thai sisters who have been living in Taiwan for 40 years. Their goal is to give people in Taiwan a taste of the real Thailand. Boat noodles are packed with lots of ingredients, but they traditionally come in small bowls. After coming to Taiwan, they decided to localize it by increasing the portions and adding local ingredients, thoroughly winning over local palettes.

A chef deftly cooks up some noodles and piles them high with ingredients, preparing to serve a delicious bowl of Thai boat noodles.

Just seeing the other customers plucking noodles out of the rich broth is enough to make your mouth water. This shop in Keelung was founded by three Thai sisters who have been serving up the taste of home for 40 years.

It’s very hardy, and there’s lots in it, but it’s not too much to handle for us.

It’s the same as in Thailand. This is how most boat noodles are served there.

Boat noodles are a beloved Thai staple packed with many different ingredients. Beyond your typical green vegetables and pork, the owners here also add some local flavors like tempura and meatballs. They also supersize the portion.

We wanted to share great Thai food like boat noodles with our friends in Taiwan. In Thailand, it’s served in tiny bowls. Some people even eat 20 or 30 at a time. So we made it bigger.

Still hungry? Not to worry. You can add an order of charred pork neck or chicken wings, and wash it all down with a Thai milk tea. There’s no need to board a plane for an authentic taste of Thailand!

您有吃過泰國道地的美食”船麵"嗎?在基隆有一間小吃店,由在台灣生活40年的泰國三姊妹,合力開設,賣的船麵,讓人吃一口彷彿就來到泰國,店家說,船麵的配料很多,但在泰國都是小小碗,不過來到台灣,老闆加入在地食材,讓船麵份量加倍,贏得饕客的味蕾。

俐落的點火煮麵,加上滿滿配料,一晚香味十足的泰國船麵就可以端上桌了。

只見客人從碗裡夾出裹滿湯汁的麵條,讓人看了食指大動。這間店位在基隆,由在台灣生活40年的泰國三姊妹,合力開設,把家鄉的美味帶來台灣。

其實船麵,是泰國著名的傳統美食,光是配料就多達十種,不只有青菜豬肉,老闆還加入在地食材,天婦羅跟貢丸等等,讓船麵份量加倍。

“在泰國很多美食,其中這個船麵就把它帶到台灣來,然後來跟台灣的朋友一起分享,在泰國就是小小碗的,有的會吃到20碗,30碗都有,我們就把它變大”

只有吃船麵,不過癮怎麼辦?不用擔心,還可以配上烤的焦嫩的豬頸肉、雞翅,再搭上滿滿泰味的泰式奶茶,讓你不用出國,也能彷彿置身泰國。
