President Lai Ching-te delivered a speech on Wednesday to mark the second anniversary of his presidency. In it, he outlined three priorities for his administration: safeguarding Taiwan’s democratic way of life, maintaining peace and stability across the Taiwan Strait, and promoting economic development. Lai emphasized that despite shifting global conditions and a political gridlock in the legislature, Taiwan will not back down and will continue moving forward with democracy, peace, and prosperity as its guiding principles. Our path these past two years has been far from easy to traverse. The global landscape is shifting rapidly. The ruling and opposition parties here at home hold different visions for our nation’s direction. This has led to an unprecedented deadlock in our legislature. Democracy is not a gift that falls from the heavens. Taiwan’s future cannot be decided by forces outside our borders, nor can it be held hostage by fear, division, or short-term gain. Taiwan’s future must be determined together by our 23 million people. Taiwan is a responsible member of the international community – not a destabilizer. Taiwan is willing to engage in healthy and orderly exchanges with China, however, we firmly reject united front tactics that package unification as peace. We pursue stability, but will not sacrifice our sovereignty or our democratic way of life. This is Taiwan’s bottom line.
Lai also announced a new national population strategy to address Taiwan’s declining birthrate. The plan will provide a monthly cash handout of NT$5,000 to each family for every child and teenager between zero and 18. Part of the money will be deposited into a "Children’s Future Account," allowing kids to have a financial foundation for education or starting a business once they reach adulthood.

賴清德今日發表就任總統滿2周年談話，並以「守護民主生活方式、維持台海和平穩定、經濟發展」作為三大執政核心方向。賴清德強調，面對國際局勢變動與國內政治僵局，台灣不會因此退縮，將持續以民主、和平與繁榮作為國家前進方向。

“過去兩年，台灣走過的每一步都不容易，世界局勢快速變動，國內朝野因為國家方向不同，國會出現前所未有的僵局，民主不是天下掉下來的禮物，台灣的未來不能由境外勢力決定，也不能被恐懼，分裂，或短期利益綁架，台灣的未來，必須由兩千三百萬人民共同決定。台灣是國際社會上負責任的一員，不是破壞穩定的一方，願與中國展開健康有序交流，但堅定拒絕，以和平包裝統一的統戰作為，我們追求穩定，但不會犧牲主權與民主生活方式，這是台灣的底線”
面對當前少子化挑戰，賴清德親自宣布，近日政府將提出台灣人口對策新戰略，決定提供0到18歲成長津貼，每人每月5000元，其中部分將撥入「兒童未來帳戶」，讓孩子成年即擁有就學、創業的「第一桶金」。
