Activists release numbers of candidates that signed pledge against capitulating to China

A group of activists on Wednesday announced the most recent numbers of a campaign to gauge the pro-China or pro-Taiwan leanings of politicians up for election. In the campaign, they asked candidates to sign a pledge to promise that they won’t capitulate to China. All DPP candidates running for mayor or commissioner have signed the pledge, as well as two candidates from the New Power Party. But so far, none of the KMT or independent candidates have signed.

In recent days, groups of activists have asked candidates of the upcoming local elections to sign a pledge saying that they won’t capitulate to China, and will stand up for Taiwan. The activists on Wednesday gave an update on the campaign.

All of the people in the DPP signed the pledge. But in the KMT, not a single person signed it. What are they all afraid of? They don’t dare sign it? Or they can’t sign it?

All 21 DPP candidates in the race for mayor or commissioner signed the pledge, as well as two candidates from the New Power Party. But outside of the two parties, there have been no signatories. As for councilor candidates, only two KMT candidates and two Taiwan People’s candidates signed the pledge. That’s in stark contrast with dozens of DPP and Taiwan Statebuilding Party candidates.

Chiang Wan-an said that signing the pledge was a stupid thing to do. Meanwhile, during an interpellation with Premier Su Tseng-chang, Wu Sz-huai from the Foreign and National Defense Committee said the pledge was dumb. Of course, we should elect leaders and representatives that the people trust to be able to protect democracy.

本土社團日前發起不投降承諾書簽署活動，喊話各黨派候選人表態，如今公布第二波進度報告，民進黨縣市長候選人，全數簽署，議員候選人也都很捧場，但國民黨和民眾黨縣市首長仍掛零，議員部分寥寥可數。獨派團體就嗆藍白陣營，你們是不能簽，還是不敢簽？

日前多個獨派團體，針對九合一大選的候選人，發起不投降承諾書的簽署活動，來展現台灣人的意志，如今結果出爐。

“民進黨他們所有人都簽了。國民黨與民眾黨則沒有一位簽。你們是在怕什麼？是不敢簽？還是不能簽？”

在縣市首長方面，民進黨籍的候選人，全數簽署，共21位，時代力量則有2位，但藍白陣營縣市長候選人，簽署人持續掛零。在議員候選人方面，國民黨與民眾黨，只有各兩位願意簽，對比民進黨與基進黨雙位數的人數，形成強烈對比。

“蔣萬安說簽署不投降承諾書很白癡。外交國防委員吳斯懷質詢蘇貞昌院長的時候，直接說簽署這個承諾書非常無聊。當然要選出能夠讓民眾覺得有信心，能夠守護自由民主的民代跟首長。”

“柯文哲對民防一無所知，還用訕笑的方式，甚至說管你去死。對戰爭和屈服，如果選擇屈服，最後還是要面對戰爭。國民黨、民眾黨它們對於這樣的意志，完全不敢表現那就是已經是屈服，他們這樣的屈服可以帶來和平嗎？”

本土社團痛批藍白陣營，不該向中國低頭，呼籲選民，投票時可得擦亮眼睛。
