
A village in Miaoli is famed for its fried rice cakes. A stall in Houlong Township’s Shuiwei Community has been serving them up for 40 years. You can get oysters or pork for fillings. But the real star of the show is the crispy batter made with local rice. A family has been running the small stall for so long, it’s now a beloved Miaoli institution.

在苗栗後龍水尾社區,這個臨海小村,有一攤炸粿,包的是新鮮蚵仔,跟豬肉等內餡,吃起來外酥內嫩,而且鮮甜多汁,每天下午開店賣到傍晚,許多當地人從小吃到大,不到3坪的小攤,卻傳承三代,一飄香就超過四十年。
客人今天想來點什麼?要吃蚵嗲,很可以,鮮美生蚵肥吱吱,可是,有人不吃海鮮,無肉不歡,也沒問題。
炸粿在油鍋裡翻騰,等外皮變成金黃色,再起鍋,業者會幫忙剪成一塊塊,方便客人加上這一味:辣椒醬,繞個一小圈,大口咬下去。
