Indigenous children’s choir Puzangalan wins awards in Austria and Slovakia

Made up of indigenous children from disadvantaged families, the award-winning Puzangalan Children’s Choir from Pingtung has competed in various countries over the past 12 years. From elementary school to university, the choir’s members give up their holiday to practice singing, and their efforts have paid off.

Last month, the choir won top prizes at the 13th World Peace Choral Festival in Austria, as well as at the ninth International Youth Music Festival in Slovakia. Music has certainly opened a new chapter in the lives of these children from Pingtung.

來自屏東的希望兒童合唱團,有許多出生自弱勢家庭的原住民學童組成,從國小橫跨到大學,捨棄假日玩樂時間練唱,12年來,多次站上世界舞台。

今年7月遠征歐洲音樂節,拿下維也納世界和平合唱節、青少年組金獎等五項金獎殊榮。這群屏東孩子,用音樂翻轉出生,開啟人生新篇章。
