Passenger presses emergency button after missing stop on high-speed rail

A high-speed rail train was brought to a halt on Wednesday, after a passenger hit the emergency stop button. It turns out the passenger had simply missed her station. The incident caused a short delay at Changhua, but it didn’t affect arrival times at other stations.

If the door closing chime is playing but you’re still on the train, what should you do? For one woman from Changhua, the first instinct was to press the emergency button. The train came to a stop just as it was leaving the station.
That’s exactly what happened on northbound train No. 822 of the high-speed rail. The train had just departed Changhua station when it was brought to a halt, leaving passengers in disbelief.

We’d just set off and the train stopped on its tracks.

There was a woman sleeping in my seat. I asked her to check her ticket and saw that she was supposed to get off at Changhua. The train had already started moving, so I was going to tell her to go to the non-reserved seating area and get off at the next stop, but she just got up and rushed off.
After being informed that she had missed her stop, the woman rushed to press the emergency stop button. In a statement, the high-speed rail company said the train resumed its trip after staff confirmed that there was no emergency. Although the train was delayed two to three minutes at Changhua, it arrived on time at all other stops.

Pressing the emergency button like that is so selfish. If you miss your station, just ride back from the next stop.

If you miss your stop, just get off at the next one. That’s what I’d do. The emergency button is there for emergencies, such as earthquakes and things like that.
The emergency button has a clear plastic cover that must be lifted, so that passengers don’t push it without cause. Even so, Wednesday’s incident wasn’t the first of its kind. Authorities say improper use of the button can result in a fine of up to NT$1 million.

搭車難免不小心坐過站，但這時候，搭回來就好。不過，彰化有一名婦人搭高鐵，忘記下車，竟然是直接按下緊急鈴，導致整台列車剛出站，就臨停下來。目擊乘客全傻眼。

“關門提示音響起，忘記下車怎麼辦，彰化有名婦人，竟然直接按下了緊急鈕，當時列車正準備要出站，立刻煞停”
真是太離譜了。怎麼會把緊急鈕，當下車鈴用。讓這輛822次北上列車，剛出彰化站，就被迫臨停，全車乘客，都好傻眼。

“我的位置是上面有一個阿姨在睡覺，我就叫她起來對一下車票，發現她是在彰化站下車，但是車子已經就是開始啟動了，我原本想跟她說，妳要不要去自由座，然後搭到下一站，可是她就馬上站起來，然後衝出去”
還原事發經過，目擊乘客好心提醒婦人坐過站，卻沒想到婦人竟是直接衝去按緊急鈕。高鐵發聲明表示，列車臨停後，確認不屬於緊急事件，就恢復行駛，雖然在彰化站耽誤了兩三分鐘，但後續站點並未延誤。

其實高鐵緊急鈕，都有塑膠遮罩蓋住，得掀開才按得到，就是為了防止乘客，沒事亂按。不過類似情況，已經不是第一次發生，提醒乘客，沒事按一下，恐怕已經觸法，最高可以處以百萬罰鍰！
