Strawberry ices and spaghetti warm up winter in Dahu Township

Now, to the home of Taiwanese strawberries. Dahu Township in Miaoli is famous for its unusual winter crop. Many tourists go there for a winter fruit that’s sweet enough to brighten up any cold day. Local farmers are making the most of their harvest with strawberry ices, and even hot spaghetti dishes based on the scarlet fruit.
Pink snowflakes fall from the machine, to be garnished with fresh strawberries and fruit juice. A strawberry ice is served, and children dressed in warm coats tuck in.
It’s cold outside, and this strawberry ice is pretty chilly too! Time for something a bit hotter.
Shrimps and squid are stir-fried to perfection and served with spaghetti. At the last moment, powdered beetroot is added to dye the spaghetti red, and a scattering of strawberries completes the dish. There’s also a strawberry hotpot with fresh fruit.

Dahu Township is the home of strawberry farms. But the second generation of strawberry farmers are searching for ways to diversify uses for the crop. They know that relying solely on fresh fruit sales won’t work.

苗栗縣大湖，是草莓的故鄉，每年冬天盛產草莓，雖然天氣冷颼颼，但不少遊客來到大湖，都會指定要吃草莓冰，穿著厚外套，天氣越冷越要吃。就有接手家業第二代的草莓農，在料理上研發出草莓火鍋、草莓義大利麵，吃起來酸酸甜甜的，創新思維，也帶來新商機。
紅色雪花紛紛落下，加上新鮮草莓，淋上果醬，草莓冰端上桌，小朋友穿著厚重外套，一口接著一口。
外頭天氣冷吱吱，草莓冰要是真的太冷了，也能來點熱食。
蝦子、透抽炒熟，這道料理是義大利麵。快要起鍋前加入甜菜根粉將麵條染紅，盛盤後加上些許草莓，另外還有草莓火鍋，同樣加入新鮮草莓。

百變草莓餐，冰的熱的通通行，草莓入菜，多了創意，也開創美食商機。
