Changhua photographer captures the sunrise halo of Great Buddha

A Changhua photographer recently caught a one-in-a-million photo: the sun rising behind the Baguashan Great Buddha looks like a halo. The unusual image took two years of planning for amateur photographer Pan Sung-yueh. He had to scope out the perfect location and wake up for a 6 a.m. shot. The photo has gotten a lot of attention online. Viewers are stunned by the archetypal image of the Great Buddha with light shining out of his crown.
The majestic Great Buddha at Baguashan, and behind it, the sunrise. When the rising sun reaches the Buddha’s head at the perfect angle, it’s like a halo has appeared, an auspicious image of serenity. When the rare sight appears, the public says their breath is taken away.

The image appears in a photo by amateur photographer Pan Sung-yueh. He picked the perfect time to go out and wait for the shot, at 6 a.m., capturing the sun as it crept upwards behind the Great Buddha. This time-lapsed video of the event spans about 40 minutes.

The hardest thing is doing your homework, looking up the time of the sunrise, and finding a safe spot to set up the camera. I was planning the shoot for about two years: doing the prep work, practicing. I was practicing for two or three months.
Pan made lots of site visits to scope out the ideal spot: the parking lot of Changhua Roundhouse, 1.2 km from the Great Buddha. He made many visits to design the shoot. Then it was down to luck. With the weather and the whole world coming together in his favor, he managed to catch this one-in-a-million picture of the sun rising and giving the Buddha a glowing halo.

不是合成! 八卦山"大佛懸日" 震撼呈現莊嚴美景

佛光乍現！有攝影愛好者在彰化市八卦山，拍下難得的「大佛懸日」奇景，將照片PO網後引起熱烈迴響，民眾看到都讚嘆不已，不但驚呼是莊嚴美景，更覺得是吉祥徵兆。
八卦山大佛莊嚴肅穆，後方曙光出現，旭日東昇抵達佛頭高度時，完美角度，宛如佛光乍現，一片祥和寧靜。民眾看到此等可遇不可求的美景，讚嘆連連。

畫面出自攝影愛好家潘松岳之手，上午6點多看準時間到場等候，拍下太陽從大佛後方往上竄升的影片。縮時攝影全程約40分鐘。

“最困難的地方就是，你要先做好功課，查太陽的日出(時間)，然後你要找安全的拍攝點。構思大概就2年了吧，前置作業練習，已經也練了兩三個月”
攝影家經過多次場勘，發現最佳拍攝位置位於距離大佛1.2公里的彰化扇形車庫停車場，多次蹲點設計構圖，再來就是看有沒有緣分和運氣。在天時地利人和之下，拍得旭日竄升、佛光乍現的這一刻，無限美好。
