Yunlin artist makes sculptures from plant seeds for charity

There’s an artist in Yunlin’s Huwei Township who uses seeds to make one-of-a-kind arrangements. She even founded her own workshop to promote the unique art form. Not only that, she also donates 100% of her proceeds to an orphanage and other charities to help those in need.
Each of these figures is made out of seeds and other organic materials. These unique works of art are the handiwork of an artist from Yunlin’s Huwei Township.

Don’t think of seeds scattered on the ground as a mess. You sometimes might find them gross. But after arranging them together, from it emerges a very different kind of pattern. You’d be pleasantly surprised.
The artist came across these seeds during volunteer activities. After developing an interest in it, she came up with her own style. She now has her own workshop, where people can come and try for themselves.

When auctioning them off, people would get in bidding wars over them. They thought they were beautiful. But I figured, if you do it yourself, it’s really therapeutic. It’s a therapeutic process. It’s more meaningful to make it yourself than just buy one.
Apart from organizing DIY activities, Liao also donates all of the proceeds from her sales to an orphanage and other organizations to help children with disabilities.

We’ll hold an auction every year. We’re honored to have the chance to participate. We were pleased to have the chance to do charity work. For these past two years, we’ve donated all of our proceeds to charity.
Making delightful arrangements out of seeds and donating the proceeds to charity is an act of kindness to help children in need. You could even say that these seeds are spreading the love.

雲林虎尾種子達人推廣藝術創作 義賣所得全數捐出

雲林縣虎尾鎮，有位手作達人，使用種子，做成獨一無二的作品，成立了工作室，致力推廣這項藝術，不僅如此，還將義賣所得，捐給育幼院及社福機構，發揮愛心，幫助需要救助的人。
一個個精美作品，都是利用種子或花草製成，雲林虎尾有位手作達人，將這些隨處可見的植物，打造成獨一無二的藝術品。

“每顆種子，你不要看它在地上就是很髒亂，有時候可能你還會覺得它很噁心，可是當它(被)你處理過後，它裡面會呈現這種非常不同的一些紋路，會讓你有很多驚喜。”
廖鴻溱因為參加志工活動，偶然接觸到種子，玩出興趣後，更是找出自己的風格，成立了工作室，開放民眾可以參加體驗活動。

“在販賣的過程中，大家都是可能來都會拍拍拍，覺得很漂亮，可是我是覺得，如果這個自己動手做的話，其實它是很療癒，它的過程非常療癒，你用購買的，倒不如自己來動手作，更有意義。”
除了舉辦體驗活動，還會發揮愛心，利用工作室義賣的收入，幫助育幼院及一些身心障礙的孩子。

“每年，就是一年度都會有一個義賣，那我們剛好有榮幸去接觸到(義賣)，接觸了之後覺得，做公益還蠻快樂，就是這兩年多來，我們就開始全數的把營業額就全數做公益。”
利用種子組合成充滿溫暖的作品，再利用義賣所得，發揮善舉，幫助更多需要救助的孩子，也算是藉著種子，將愛傳遞出去。
