Do not throw expired lucky charms in the trash! Do this instead

Getting protective amulets and charms from temples to ensure good luck in the Lunar New Year is a common custom in Taiwan and other countries in Asia like Japan. But did you know these talismans come with an expiry date? Once their shelf life is up, they stop offering their protective powers, unless you take them back to the temple for a recharge. Let’s hear more.

Once it expires you can do this. You do three circles clockwise, and that charges it back up.
The amulets also become ineffective when damaged. But if they expire or break, do not just chuck them in the trash, as they contain divine power and blessings. To dispose of them properly, take them back to the temple you acquired them from and get them burnt. And make sure to thank the gods that granted you the charm for the protection it offered you in the previous year.

不少人會向神明求取平安符、護身符，甚至到日本觀光，也會求御守回家，希望獲得神明的隨身庇佑。但平安符其實也有保存期限，期效到了，就需回原廟宇充電，以維持法力。

“期限到就是這樣，順時鐘這樣過三圈就好，過三圈它就會充電這樣”
平安符是代表神明的力量，以及庇佑的象徵性信物，破損的符令會失效，若要替換過期或是破損的平安符，絕不可隨意扔進垃圾桶，最好是回到原來的寺廟燒化掉，並向神明稟告，感謝一年來的庇護。
