Locally trained Taiwan curlers debut at Asian Winter Games

2025-02-13

Taiwan is taking big strides forward in the sport of curling. At the 2025 Asian Winter Games, the men’s team finished at a respectable fourth place. They lost against Philippines 11-3, ending just a hair’s breadth away from securing a medal. Meanwhile, the women’s curling team met a strong opponent in Japan, which defeated them 12-5 before they could make it to the semifinals.

Though the teams didn’t bag any medals, their achievements are quite significant. That’s because several athletes are part of the first batch of curlers to be trained fully in Taiwan, in contrast with previous editions, where all participants trained overseas. In total, four of the athletes were fully domestically trained: They are Noel Hou, George Lin, Vincent Chang and Chang Chia-chi.
