Though there are many workshops training people with disabilities in workplace skills, they have mainly focused on the service trade. But now, Kaohsiung is cooperating with a printing factory to establish the first workshop that teaches disabled people printing skills. Let’s hear more.
A stack of brown paper envelopes has doubled-side sticky tape precisely affixed to them. They are then orderly placed in a printer for printing.
The three trainees’ movements are meticulous, as they divide the like production line. This is the first printing workshop, set up by the Kaohsiung Labor Bureau, that provides opportunities for people with physical and mental disabilities.

Unlike other workshops providing employment for people with disabilities that mostly focus on services such as baking and catering, this printing factory is teaching disabled people practical skills.

At first they used the photocopier for simply photocopying. Later they may come in contact with different machines and different items. They also need to learn about sizing and keep practicing continuously.

Families often need to stay at home to take care of them. With this workshop, they can take a break for a few hours while they are here with us.

Instead of giving them a fish to eat, it is better to teach them how to catch fish, so that they can find jobs and become self-reliant.
These kinds of workshops not only provide people with disabilities with opportunities to learn skills and interact with others, but also allow them to become confident in the workplace.

庇護工場讓身心障礙朋友能夠學習技能、與人互動，高雄市勞工局和印刷廠合作，成立首間印刷庇護工場，提供身障朋友更多就業機會。
一整疊牛皮紙袋信封，精準的貼上雙面膠，整齊放入影印機列印。
3位學員動作熟練細膩，分工合作，打造類似產線的作業模式，這是高雄勞工局成立的第一間印刷庇護工場，提供身心障礙人士進入職場的機會。

有別於以往庇護工場大多是烘焙、餐飲等服務性質，勞工局首度和印刷廠合作，輔導身障朋友在實務中學習。

庇護工場不僅提供身障朋友學習技能，與人互動，也讓他們在工作中展現自信心，與社會接軌。
