Hotels in central Taiwan offer NT$1 suites to boost occupancy

According to figures from the Tourism Administration, hotel bookings last year had declined by 6.21%, with more and more domestic travelers opting for single-day excursions rather than overnight stays. To boost occupancy rates, a group of hotels in central Taiwan have launched a promotion for NT$1 presidential suites. Fifteen lucky winners are to get rooms as big as 82 ping, which normally go for NT$30,000 per night.
This presidential hotel suite has a wide double bed and even a karaoke lounge. If the kids want to splash around, there’s also this wading pool. It originally costs NT$35,000 to book for the night. But some lucky guests will get the chance to stay there for only NT$1!

Many hotels haven’t even reached 40% occupancy this summer. Overnight stays by domestic travelers have declined. We got together three hotels and are promoting our best rooms to show travelers the quality of our establishments.
According to data from the Tourism Administration, a record 222 million trips were made within Taiwan last year. But hotel bookings were down 6.21%, showing that more travelers are preferring single-day excursions to overnight stays. To get these numbers back up, three hotels had the idea to hold a drawing for NT$1 stays in their nicest suites.

This family from Taoyuan is paying over NT$4,000 to spend a weeknight in Taichung. When they heard about the NT$1 deal, their faces lit up. Apart from this 82-ping suite in Nantun District, another hotel in the Fengjia shopping area is also putting up their 25-ping suite, originally NT$10,000 for a night.

Before the pandemic, our occupancy rate was almost always 90 to 100%. Now, we’re only at around 60%.
It’s not only Taichung hotels that have felt the squeeze. Hotels in Nantou’s Sun Moon Lake are also facing a drop-off in bookings.

When the economy was doing well, overall occupancy rates in Sun Moon Lake would hover around 70 or 80%. But starting from last year, it’s contracted to just 50%. This year has been even worse. On average, we’re only filling 30 to 40% of our rooms.
Three certified hotels in central Taiwan have all agreed to put up five rooms each for the promotion, meaning that 15 lucky groups will get to experience their most luxurious suites for only NT$1. By promoting the best of what they have to offer, the hotels hope it will spark a revival in overnight stays.

觀光署統計，2024年台灣國內旅客住宿人次，下降 6.21%，顯示短程一日遊，逐漸取代住宿旅遊，為了搶救國旅住房率，中部旅宿業者聯盟，推出1元總統套房，總共提供15個住宿名額，最大的房間82坪，原價要價三萬多，只要抽中，就能以1元入住。
來到飯店總統套房，寬敞的雙人床，還有客廳可以唱歌，小朋友要玩水，也有戲水池，一晚要價三萬五千多元的總統套房，現在有機會以一元入住！

“今年的暑假的話很多的飯店，都住房率不到四成左右，所以現在國旅（住宿）比較萎縮，我們結合了三家（業者），把最好的房間好好的呈現，讓國旅可以看到我們，三家的飯店的好。”
根據觀光署統計，去年國內旅遊共計2.22億旅次，創歷史新高，但國內旅客住宿人次，卻下降 6.21%，顯示短程一日遊逐漸取代住宿旅遊，為了搶救國內旅遊住房率，業者推出一元總統套房抽獎。

從桃園來台中入住親子房的民眾，平日住房要價四千多，聽到總統套房只要一元，眼睛一亮。除了南屯區82坪總統套房，逢甲商圈業者，也祭出25坪一晚一萬多的總統套房，搶救住房率。

“疫情之前我們住房率，幾乎都九成到100%，現在目前幾乎只剩下，差不多六成左右。”
國旅住房率萎縮不只發生在台中，南投日月潭的飯店業者，也面臨住房率階梯式下滑的困境。

“景氣好的時候我們日月潭那邊的，整體的住房率可能，大家都可以維持在七成到八成，但是其實從去年開始，就已經萎縮到可能只剩五成，那今年其實狀況更不好，平均下來大概都，只有三到四成左右而已。”
中部三家業者聯盟，成立安心入住認證標誌，每家推出5個1元入住名額，總計15個名額，要讓民眾體驗總統套房，打響國旅住宿品牌，希望有效刺激住房率！
