Huang Kuo-chang skips meeting with police about August clash

2025-09-15

In late August, TPP Chair Huang Kuo-chang led a protest in front of the Presidential Residence. The gathering, which has been called “illegal,” ended in a clash that left eight police officers with injuries. Huang himself is suspected of grabbing a police officer by the neck. He was summoned by the Taipei Police Department to explain his actions on Monday morning, but he didn’t show up.

He was instead at the Taipei District Court, listening to a hearing involving former TPP Chair Ko Wen-je. When reporters asked him about the issue, he said there was no need to be nervous. In the end, his case will be referred to the Taipei District Prosecutors Office on Tuesday.
