7 million households to benefit from income tax exemption hikes

2025-11-07

And here’s some good news for families all around Taiwan. Next year’s income tax exemptions are getting hiked. That’s because the consumer price index for October showed a cumulative price increase of more than 3%, which is the legal threshold for a revision. The change is expected to benefit an estimated 7 million households.

The changes affect exemption amounts, standard deductions, salary income deductions and special disability deductions. They will increase by between NT$4,000 and NT$9,000. For a dual-income family of four, that would mean savings of up to NT$17,600. And since exemptions are higher, the tax brackets are getting tweaked too. At the 40% tax bracket will be higher by NT$210,000.
