China-born Japan lawmaker banned in China touches down in Taiwan

Japanese lawmaker Seki Hei has arrived in Taiwan, just months after being blacklisted by Beijing for his criticism of China. Seki was born and raised in China and naturalized as a Japanese citizen in 2007. Upon landing in Taiwan, he said he was happy, as entering Taiwan’s territory proved that China and Taiwan are different countries. Let’s hear from him.

As a member of Japan’s House of Councillors, I have set foot on Taiwan’s national territory. I am very happy and moved. The government of the PRC has sanctioned me and doesn’t allow me to enter China’s national territory. But today I was able to enter the territory of Taiwan, of the ROC. This shows that the PRC and ROC are two different countries. Taiwan is not part of China. Taiwan is Taiwan. Taiwan is the ROC, which has absolutely nothing to do with the PRC, also known as mainland China.
China’s Taiwan Affairs Office had previously stated that Seki’s visit to Taiwan was not worth commenting on. Meanwhile Seki himself says that it doesn’t matter whether China mentions him or not. Shortly after arriving in Taiwan, the Chair of the Taiwan Statebuilding Party Chilly Chen, conferred a brooch upon him symbolizing Taiwan-Japan friendship.

被中國進行制裁，無法過境中國的日本參議員石平，為了證實台灣和中國並非同一國家，在週二上午11點多左右抵台灣，他高興喊說這已經證實中國跟台灣並非是相同國家。

“我今天作為日本參議員，石平踏上台灣的國土，我非常高興也非常激動，因為中華人民共和政府對我進行制裁，不允許我入中國的國境，那我今天能夠順利地進入台灣的國境，進入中華民國的國境，這就充分說明，中華人民共和國和我們中華民國完全是兩個不同的國家，台灣絕對不是中國的一部份，台灣就是台灣，台灣就是中華民國，和中華人民共和國，大陸的中國，沒有一毛錢的關係”
被問到日前國台辦回應，石平要來台灣的事情不值一評，石平也回應中國愛提不提都無所謂，而台灣國理事長陳峻涵也親自為石平，別上台日友好的別針，象徵兩國交流持續密切互動。
