Visitors to Chimei Museum in Tainan like to have picnics on the lawn, close by a flock of geese who live at the pond. Some visitors have recently tried to get close to snap a picture, only to be chased away by the territorial animals.

People like to enjoy the lawn at Chimei Museum in Tainan, especially the area near the pond alongside a flock of geese. Wanting to get a picture of the cute animals, they get too close only to become a target. And these few people weren’t the only ones.

It tried to bite my skirt just now, but I dodged it. It didn’t get me.

They might look adorable, but since they’re very territorial, if people get too close, the geese might attack.

Geese are territorial by nature. Don’t disturb or feed them. Keeping a distance of 10 or 20 meters should be perfectly safe. Besides enjoying the scenery, you can also interact with the animals.

台南的奇美博物館，園區大片的綠色草皮，加上湖裡成群的可愛鵝群，吸引許多民眾前往野餐放鬆。但卻有民眾，前往野餐，只不過想拍下鵝群可愛的身影，卻被成群的鵝追著跑，讓她嚇得落跑。

民眾到台南的奇美博物館野餐，一旁好幾隻大白鵝跑上岸，原本覺得超萌想拍照，沒想到卻成了大白鵝的追逐目標，嚇得落荒而逃。類似被鵝追著跑的經驗，不只一人遇到。

奇美博物館園區內，有大片的綠色草皮，成了不少民眾想親近大自然的野餐地點，園方提醒，在園區野餐，要保持好與鵝的距離，避免野餐過程，全是驚嚇。

The incident occurred at a coffee chain shop near the Kaohsiung Cultural Center. Eyewitnesses said the group gathered in the outdoor dining area a little after 7p.m., occupying six tables. They even brought in what appeared to be home kitchen utensils and ate food they brought in, while chatting and creating a disturbance.

Everyone behaves differently, but your store needs to use signs to let people know that outside food is not allowed.

When asked what they planned to do about this, the business owners would not comment. This coffee shop usually places tables and chairs in the arcade for the convenience of customers, so that they can relax and enjoy their coffee after buying it. However, it was unexpected that these customers took over the seating for their own purposes, depriving other customers of space.

Police refers bike-scooter collision on private land to civil litigation

There’s a row of houses in the Zhonglun community of Kaohsiung’s Fengshan District that open their doors directly to a public park. One of the residents bought a new scooter weighing over 120kg that she keeps parked out front. But in recent days, a kid riding a bike ran into the scooter, knocking it over. Since it was technically parked on private property, police said they can’t treat it as a traffic accident, and referred the parties to negotiate civil damages.

The 120kg scooter falls to the ground, along with the little girl on the back of the bike. But she quickly climbs back up and they hurry on their way. The homeowner heard the commotion and came outside to look, but only saw the scooter on the ground. The culprit was nowhere in sight.

I have no idea how it got hit. It’s ridiculous. The path here is so wide. The side, exhaust guard, tailpipe, and headlight were all damaged.

After only having the scooter for less than a year, the owner was heartbroken that it got damaged while parked outside of her home. After checking security footage, she discovered it was a kid who ran into it. But his parent was right behind, and only gave it a glance before continuing on.

- They shouldn’t just run away.

- They probably didn’t think there was a camera.

The parent didn’t admit it at first, but after he saw there was a camera, he agreed to pay compensation. The estimate came out to NT$6,500, but after it came out, he said he was only willing to pay NT$3,000, claiming it might have had pre-existing damage. He said if I wasn’t satisfied, I should go file a police report.

The incident happened in the Zhonglun community of Kaohsiung’s Fengshan District, where an entire row of houses open up to a public park. The scooter was on a pathway that’s owned by the community, so it wasn’t parked illegally. But the case also can’t be considered a hit-and-run.

The incident did not occur on a public road, and thus cannot be handled as a standard traffic accident. We recorded both parties’ information and assisted in applying for mediation through the district office.

It’s not only walkways like this one, but also parking lots and other similar areas aren’t considered public roads. If an accident occurs in one of these places, it can only be compensated through civil procedures.

Lukang tackles flooding issue with dual parking lot, runoff storage facility

The centuries-old town of Lukang in Changhua County frequently battles flooding issues due to its outdated drainage system, further challenged by extreme weather. The county government secured funding from the Water Resources Agency to test out a new concept at Luojin Elementary. Under the school’s track and field is now Taiwan’s first parking lot that doubles as a flood detention basin, managing to both improve drainage while also providing a brand-new facility.

Most times we can provide parking for visitors to the Lukang River near the old street, helping to alleviate parking issues there.

County Commissioner Wang Hui-mei came to personally inspect the parking lot after it opened. That’s because this is no ordinary parking lot. There’s also a flood detention basin underneath, which promises to solve flooding issues at the nearby Lukang old street.

Underneath, it can store five to six Olympic-sized swimming pools of floodwater, about 12,000 cubic meters.

Every time the centuries-old town of Lukang experiences heavy rainfall, its old drainage system struggles to keep up, flooding the old street to the detriment of businesses there. The county is therefore working with the Water Resources Agency on a comprehensive project to redirect runoff from the Lukang River, to be completed in phases.

There are still seven areas where runoff detention ponds need to be constructed around the greater Lukang area. The county government will continue to build them all, one at a time.

This elementary school’s track and field boasts the country’s first underground runoff detention reservoir that doubles as a parking lot. The multipurpose facility draws on flood control expertise from Japan and Denmark, preserving the look of the town while providing more green space for residents to enjoy.

Tainan’s explosive beehive fireworks festival blasts off

The most explosive event of the year is back on once again in Tainan. The two-day Yanshui beehive Fireworks Festival kicked off on Monday, a much-awaited event for locals and visitors from afar. Tainan Mayor Huang Wei-che set off the inaugural firecracker string, which was immediately followed by the first beehive parading along the streets of Tainan alongside local deities. If you’re looking for a thrilling getaway with a bang, Tainan is the place to go.

They set the firecrackers alight and dash off to inaugurate the annual Yanshui Beehive Fireworks Festival.

Mayor Huang Wei-che greets guests from Taiwan and abroad, showing them this unique tradition that’s attracted international attention. But before you go off detonating explosives, make sure you’re safe.

The first beehive sets off on its parade, to the delight of seasoned revelers ready for a blast.

They include this fully-protected young lady, who’s been enjoying the thrill of explosions since before she was even born.

- She’s seen them for more than 10 years. For me, it’s been a couple more.

- I’m wearing a helmet, a thick jacket and jeans.
- How many times have you taken part?
- Since I was in my mom’s tummy.

For a novice, getting bombarded with fireworks can be flustering. But veterans can’t get enough of it, cool as cucumbers.

- It’s great, really chill. It feels great.

Protective gear is a must. And so is finding a good spot to not block the rockets. The point is for them to travel far as an offering for the gods.

The two day event will feature more than 200 firework beehives in varying sizes going on loud and explosive processions around the city. Nearby, the Taiwan Lantern Festival in Chiayi and the Yuejin Lantern Festival are also drawing visitors to Southern Taiwan, and Tainan is expecting a great turnout.

US weaponry proves effective in ’Operation Epic Fury’ on Iran

New-generation US weaponry proved to be effective in the US-Israeli Airstrike on Iran that began on Saturday. Many weapons were deployed for the first time in history, including the black-colored Tomahawk cruise missile, as well as LUCAS drones, modeled after Iran’s Shahed-136 drone. The successful attacks proved that the US is at an advantage over its adversaries.

The US military deployed its B-2 stealth bombers, equipped with 2,000-pound bombs, to precisely strike Iran’s ballistic missile facilities. The US Central Command released several videos showcasing various strikes to date, as well as new weapons in use.

An Arleigh Burke-class destroyer launches missiles. This glossy black Tomahawk cruise missile, unlike the usual gray paint, is speculated by military experts to be an improved version designed to reduce detectability.

The new-generation Tomahawk missile has a different paintjob. It’s black. The paint probably has a stealth coating. It can absorb radar waves and convert them into heat energy, so when the radar receives the reflected waves, the signals are very weak, thus creating a stealth effect.

Apart from stealth weapons, the air strike also features mass deployment of long-range one-way attack drones by the US military.

The LUCAS is designed as a low-cost loitering munition, with its extended range capable of launch from multiple platforms. It bears similarity to Iran’s Shahed-136 drone.

The reverse-engineered LUCAS costs only US$35,000 per unit, making it especially suited for mass deployment to achieve an impactful and continuous heavy-hitting effect.

Compared to missiles, which costs in the range of millions of US dollars, it’s relatively low-cost. It can be deployed to strike low-threat targets. Iran’s Shahed series was also found to have cloned the US military’s RQ-170 Sentinel UAV. Many military bloggers describe it as a product of multiple copy-and-pastes.

In addition to drones and Tomahawk missiles, the US also deployed the HIMARS missile system for attacks and used Patriot missiles and THAAD systems for air defense to intercept Iranian missiles.

In contrast, the air defense missile interception systems adopted by Iran, made by China and Russia, failed to withstand the US-Israeli offensive, demonstrating the disparity in military strength between the US and its adversaries.
