Welcome back to Formosa News. A hospital director in the Chinese city of Wuhan has died from COVID-19. Chinese authorities announced that Dr. Liu Zhiming, the director of Wuhan’s Wuchang Hospital, died Tuesday morning after contracting the virus from his patients. His death follows the passing of Dr. Li Wenliang, who had tried to warn the public about the virus, only to be reprimanded by Chinese police.

Dr. Liu had held a position within the CCP. He was a neurosurgeon who led a hospital designated as a COVID-19 treatment center. Liu’s death has renewed discussion on Chinese social media about Beijing’s handling of the viral outbreak. On Tuesday, China’s official figures put the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases at over 72,000. The death toll has surpassed 1,800.
