
To save on personnel costs, one noodle restaurant leaves the entire process up to the customer, from cooking to checkout. But how can the owner avoid theft? In the tiny space, there are five cameras and a screen right by the entrance where diners can watch themselves eat, knowing they’re being recorded. An employee also comes by every once in a while to check in.
Against the wall are stacks of Korean instant noodles, all free for the taking. No one is working in this restaurant, but don’t assume that no one is watching.
Over by the entrance there’s a security camera. There’s also another if you look to the right above the register. There’s even one looking at you by the free area.

When we sold chicken breast and sous vide chicken it got stolen, but I thought it was within acceptable costs. If it was stolen, it probably means they just took it without ordering.
The cameras aren’t just there to keep tabs on customers. They also help the employees see if items need restocking.

We’re pretty busy these days, so we need to have someone for every shift except for overnight after 1 a.m. Small profits, but high turnover.
Customers can come in 24 hours a day to order, pay for and make their own meal. But even with the cameras watching, people still try to get away with taking a little extra.

店家節省人力,設置"無人商店",從結帳、取餐,都讓民眾自己來,但要如何防止偷竊行為呢?來看無人拉麵店,小小一間,就裝設了5支監視器,還特別在入口點餐區域,架設螢幕,播放監視器畫面,提醒民眾"錄影中",也會有值班人員,偶爾來監看。
一整排韓國泡麵,完全沒有上鎖,隨手一抽,就能拿走,無人麵店,考驗人性,但別以為沒人管,就能順手牽羊。
放眼望去,入口處一台監視器,來到點餐機台,右上方也有第三隻眼,就連免費區,也還是有鏡頭對著你。

“有監視器(能減少偷竊),泡麵什麼的應該不會有人會到想要去偷。”
小小一間店5台監視器,店家也直接把監視器畫面,公開放映,提醒消費者,別動歪腦筋。

“像我們之前賣雞胸肉、舒肥雞也是會被偷,但是我覺得算是在正常成本裡面。基本上如果是被偷的話,就是可能他沒有點餐,但他有拿。”
其實監視器,不只監看民眾一舉一動,也要幫忙看各種配料還夠不夠,以便值班人員到場補貨。

“現在的人流其實蠻大的,所以我們基本上每個時段都會有班別,除了(半夜)1點之後。薄利多銷啦。”
24小時無人店,從點餐、結帳到取餐,通通靠民眾自己來,雖然有監視器,但人多時"多拿一份餐"的狀況,難免防不勝防。
