Resort offers gourmet picnic with special box-roasted chicken

With spring finally here, many people are looking forward to picnicking with their friends. One resort in Nantou’s Yuchi Township is thinking outside the box with their roast chicken. Soaked in tea, stuffed with green onion and garlic, and slatheredin spices, the bird is roasted right there inside a cardboard box, allowing picnickers to enjoy a fresh meal among nature.

A few friends sit on a picnic blanket spread on the grass, enjoying a lovely meal. But the chicken they’re eating seems too good to be true.

They open the cardboard box and a delectable smell bursts forth. The roast chicken inside is crispy, the skin a glazed golden brown.

Besides being super tender and juicy, the skin is also especially crispy and you can taste the tea.

This 1.5kg roast chicken takes a lot of skill to prepare. It’s first soaked in black tea from Sun Moon Lake, then stuffed with green onion and garlic before it’s placed in a cardboard oven and roasted with spices.

We provide a cardboard box with environmentally friendly coconut charcoal that you can take with you. We also help make sauces and special seasonings for you to make yourself, or you can enjoy it as is.

Don’t underestimate the humble cardboard box. Even filled with charcoal, it doesn’t burn. As long as there’s also some water, it will not only cook the chicken, but also keep it warm.

春暖花開,不少民眾喜歡約三五好友出門野餐,南投魚池有渡假村業者,推出"紙箱烤雞",將泡過紅茶的土雞,塞入蔥蒜,再加入獨特香料,在紙箱內燻烤,讓民眾能一邊賞花一邊吃美食。

大草皮上,鋪上一塊野餐墊,三五好友齊聚吃美食,但這美味烤雞,讓人忍不住一口接一口。

打開紙箱,濃郁香氣直衝腦門,烤雞看起來酥脆,帶有微焦感。

“除了鮮嫩多汁之外,還可以吃得到雞皮特別酥脆,吃得到紅茶的香氣。”

這重達1.5公斤的烤雞,前製作業其實很費工夫,得先泡日月潭在地紅茶,還塞入層層蔥蒜,再放入紙箱,加上香料燻烤。

“我們透過在旅行的過程之中,用紙箱,用環保椰子炭去悶熱的概念,我們幫你做醬汁的上醬,跟特殊味料的調理,讓你可以自己體會DIY,或者是就享受天然美食。”

可別小看這不起眼的紙箱,就算擺入炭,也不會燒起來,只要放入足量水,不但能烤熟雞肉,還有保溫功能。

“用熱氣循環的方式,可以把這些熱氣跟香料,可以很密切的燻在這隻雞上。”

南投渡假村業者,推出創意烤雞,讓民眾享用佳餚,不再侷限於餐桌上,而是能帶著輕鬆心情,賞花配美食。
