
The Czech Centre Taipei will open on Friday, to promote Czech history, culture, language, tourism, and trade. The Czech Republic currently has 28 such centers in 25 countries, but none in China. Its decision to launch a Taipei center is not expected to go over well with Beijing.

Premier Cho Jung-tai welcomed a Czech delegation on Wednesday, thanking the Central European country for donating vaccines to Taiwan during the pandemic. He noted that Taiwan and the Czech Republic are partners in many areas, including technology, education, culture, and trade.
