Sunday morning was hot and sunny with the mercury reaching a high of 38.5 degrees in parts of Yunlin County. The Central Weather Administration says that the coming week will bring more of the same high temperatures. Let’s hear from a meteorologist.

Chang Cheng-chuan
Meteorologist
The weather will continue to be hot. In the coming days, it will generally reach 33 to 35 degrees. In particular, in the central and southern regions, as well as in greater Taipei, highs above 36 are likely in some places.

There was thunder, lightning and heavy rain in some areas in the afternoon. Songshan Airport had to suspend ground operations at 2:13 p.m., affecting five flights. The CWA says that more afternoon thundershowers are likely over the next few days, and that rain will taper off starting Wednesday, but mountainous areas will still likely see rain.
