
Following the debut of breakdancing at the Olympic Games, the dance style is enjoying renewed international attention. Amid its popularity, Kaohsiung is holding an international breakdancing championship with NT$1.5 million in prizes up for grabs. Almost 400 B-boys and B-girls from 22 countries have signed up for the competition. Let’s hear from a city official.

The Kaohsiung Music Center will be holding the preliminaries on Day One, and the finals on Day Two. So far, more than 2,000 people have bought spectator tickets. You can see Olympic-level performances. From Taiwan, we have the City4 Crew led by Quake, and Nana. Besides providing a space for dancers to mingle, it’s also a platform where everyone can come to Kaohsiung and be a hero, competing for glory.
The participants include South Korean Olympian Hong 10 and Dutch Olympian Menno, both of whom won three titles at the Red Bull BC One. There’s also Canada’s Phil Wizard, who won gold at the Paris Olympics. With such a top tier roster, it’s is sure to be exciting.

2024巴黎奧運首次舉辦霹靂舞競賽項目,為延續奧運霹靂舞運動風氣,高雄市政府這個週末將舉辦2024高雄霹靂舞國際大賽,總獎金150萬,吸引全球22個國家地區,近400名各國高史齊聚港都尬舞。

“流行音樂中心舉辦第一天預賽,跟第二天的決賽,目前為止,索票已經超過兩千多位觀眾。能夠看到奧運等級的,以及我們自己台灣其實也有一個City4,是由孫振領隊,還有Nana,除了可以以舞會友以外,也是另一個讓大家來高雄當英雄,能夠爭取最高的榮譽。”
包括韓國奧運選手Hong 10、和荷蘭的奧運選手Menno,都曾經在Red Bull BC One國際霹靂舞賽事中三度拿下冠軍,加拿大選手Phil Wizard更是這屆巴黎奧運男子霹靂舞金牌,頂尖高手齊聚高雄,將帶來精采比賽。
