Generations of electronic products turn up in dredging work in Xitou pond

University Pond in Xitou Nature Education Park is a popular tourist destination. Visitors love to get their pictures taken on one of the arch bridges over the pond, and as it often happens, they accidentally drop their phones into the water. The park authority recently carried out dredging and repair work in and around the water body and found a trove of electronic products.
University Pond in Xitou Nature Education Park is a popular destination for tourists, who often walk across the iconic arch bridges built with tortoise-shell bamboo and take photos over the mirror-like pond. However, the excitement of the moment is shattered when visitors accidentally drop their cell phones into the pond. Unfortunately, the management office has said it is unable to retrieve items dropped into the water.

When you take pictures, sometimes you get too excited and then just like that, the phone falls into the water.
The strong typhoons this year had caused nearby trees to fall and damage the stonework on the slopes around the pond. Last month, the park authority began to carry out dredging and repair work in the area.
From the mud, workers turned up cell phones of various brands and generations, cameras and even a drone, but having been in the water all these years, these old electronic products are no longer worth repairing.

During the dredging process, we found electronic products, such as cell phones, cameras, and even a drone that someone accidentally lost.
Moreover, species of fish, such as carp, silver carp and grass carp that were not supposed to be in the park, also turned up during the dredging process. The park authority thinks they were released into the pond by religious groups.

南投縣的溪頭自然教育園區，裡面有一座大學池，池上有兩座拱形竹橋，是吸引遊客拍照的熱門景點，不過經常有有遊客，不小心掉落手機；園方最近排水清淤，修復邊坡砌石，清淤期間，竟然撈出多個世代iPhone手機，甚至有空拍機。
溪頭自然教育園區的大學池，有如森林中的一面明鏡，遊客常走過以孟宗竹材搭建的拱橋，在橋上拍照留念，但不時有遊客不小心，讓手機掉落池中，由於水深，管理處也愛莫能助。

“因為就是，在拍照的時候，難免會太開心，然後就這樣子，就掉下去了”
今年風災，造成大學池周邊樹倒、邊坡砌石損壞，11月起展開清淤及邊坡砌石修繕工程。
工作人員從淤泥中，撈出多個世代的手機、照相機，甚至還有空拍機，但這些電子產品都覆蓋污泥、已經無法使用。

另外，清淤期間，也撈出鯉魚、鰱魚與草魚等非園區魚類，疑人為放生。
