One of Taiwan’s baseball heroes has found a new mission: raising awareness of scams. Taoyuan Police have teamed up with baseball pro Lin Li for their new anti-scam campaign. Lin visited a Taoyuan school to promote the campaign, hosting an event for young baseball fans. They were excited to meet their idol, and to get his signature. Police hope that some of the concepts of scam prevention will also take root.
These school students are full of excitement. Not only do they have a ball signed by baseballer and Premier12 champion Lin Li – they’ve got to meet him in person, after he gave a talk on avoiding scams at their school.

Be careful. Pay attention to how your data might get leaked by scams. Rely on the publicity that says be careful of online scams.

When you order something on your phone, sometimes it might be empty when it arrives, or the item has a defect.
Scams have been consistently growing in number in recent years. Many people have had their life savings stolen, which can be a devastating experience. Pingzhen平鎮 Precinct of Taoyuan Police Department is going all out to combat the phenomenon. They invited Lin Li, a member of Taiwan’s triumphant baseball team, as an ambassador for the cause, to host this event on the theme “Strike Strong, Scams Out!”

Many people don’t know that these scams can have a huge impact on people. We hope that this event will inform people about scam prevention, and they can be on the lookout.

We invited Lin Li to come specially to Pingzhen Precinct, and we hope his influence will mean that our work to raise awareness of scams will take root in these kids from a young age, and that they’ll take these ideas and this knowledge home. It’s a movement for everybody.
Taoyuan police hope that the star power of Lin will help their awareness raising project fly. If they can make an impression on these schoolkids, hopefully they’ll be talking about what they learned here with everyone they meet for years to come.
