A story has gone viral online of who two women were wrongly charged a staggering NT$17,100 in parking fees in Yunlin. The women had only parked for just over an hour at the parking lot, and they didn’t know what to do about the exorbitant fee. Let’s find out what happened.

A netizen posted online that they drove to Beigang Wude Temple in Yunlin. When he was lining up to pay the parking fee he was behind two older women, who got charged a five digit figure. It was a staggering NT$17,100. The women were so alarmed that they turned around and asked: how can we get out?

People jokingly told them to just crash through the fence and drive out. The women said they had visited the temple for less than two hours that day, so why were they charged so much?

She just entered the number of her license plate, and, after that, the amount came out. However, she was so scared, she ran to our service desk. It turned out there was another car with the same license plate number.

Yes, it was all a horrible mix up. It turned out the women had only parked for more than an hour and keyed in the last four digits of their license plate, but then chose the wrong car. There had been another car with the same digits and there was no record of it ever leaving. An examination of the payment machine revealed that it had parked from April 3 to May 11, which is more than a month. The parking fee was over NT$10,000. Unlucky for its owner, but the two women are breathing a sigh of relief.

民眾開玩笑的說，直接撞柵欄開出去算了！姊姊們說當天到北港武德宮參拜，不到兩個小時，怎麼要收費這麼多?

Tsai wraps up Europe tour in London

Former President Tsai Ing-wen wrapped up her Europe tour in London. On Monday, she visited a Taiwanese-owned Asian grocery store in Notting Hill, and had lunch with Taiwanese artists living in the UK. The day before, she gave a speech at the London School of Economics law school, her alma mater, on Taiwan’s global trade amid geopolitical challenges.

The crowd went wild when former President Tsai Ing-wen appeared on the streets of London.

As her Europe tour comes to a close, Tsai is visiting an Asian grocery store owned by a Taiwanese expat. The store offers plenty of Taiwan-produced favorites, such as pickles, shacha sauce, ice-cream, danbing crusts and frozen baozi.

Store owner: Yes, from Taiwan, and also other nationalities.

Restaurant pairs with celebrity chef to offer bibimbap burgers

Looking for a leg up on the lucrative Taiwanese restaurant market, one large breakfast brand decided to team up with “Culinary Class Wars” chef Edward Lee to make brand-new dishes that combine tastes from Taiwan, Korea, and the US. A separate brand worked with another “Culinary Class Wars” star, dim sum connoisseur Jung Ji-sun, on a new product line. Sales went up 30% in just one month, showing the business potential of collaborating with celebrity chefs.

Celebrity chef Edward Lee sports a warm smile as he greets the audience in Chinese. This is the first time the Korean-American Culinary Class Wars star is collaborating with an overseas brand. At the press event, he had a chance to show off his skills in person.

Freddy Lim becomes de facto ambassador to Finland
