Dessert lover’s paradise! Check out the winners of the 500 Sweets Award

If you’ve got a sweet tooth, you’re going to like this one. The first edition of an awards contest for sweet treats has just unveiled this year’s winners. It’s the 500 Sweets Award, which has recognized 356 dessert makers from all over the island. At the top of the list you can find chocolatiers making bonbons inspired by kumquat lemonade, and dessert chefs creating the freshest mango-avocado bowl you can imagine.

An indulgent chocolate mousse is dressed with a mellow boozy jelly and spongy cake cubes for a rich multilayered texture. This chocoholic’s dream was envisioned by Yu Chocolatier, which has won the top title at the first edition of the 500 Sweets Award, incorporating Taiwanese ingredients such as sesame oil and maqaw into its bonbons.

Chocolate isn’t traditionally a Taiwanese ingredient, so we’re melding it with Taiwanese ingredients and flavors. For example, we’ve taken inspiration from traditional drinks such as kumquat lemonade.

The second prize went to Li Lin Li, with a refreshing bowl of sweet-tart mango and velvety avocado sauce garnished with dashes of mango ice cream.

Among the third place winners was Le Ruban Pâttisserie, where this fruit-packed peach with a crunchy tart was born. Meanwhile, Queleques Pâttisseries captured hearts thanks to its Saint Honoré cake featuring crunchy caramelized puffs and piped cream with a purple lavender and blueberry twist.

Of course I’m ecstatic. Desserts are often an afterthought, but for me, they are a key part of our meals. They’re a pleasure to eat and can lift your spirits.

This first edition of the awards recognized 356 dessert shops, offering everything sweet under the sun, from simple shaved ice and steamed sponge cakes to pastries fit for royalty.

第一屆500甜今天登場,共有356家店入選,第一名是法式巧克力專賣店"畬室",把巧克力結合麻油、馬告,或金桔檸檬等台灣食材,獲得第一名"16甜"的成績,第二名是栗林裏,把當季芒果結合酪梨,味道如何一起去品嘗。

香甜的巧克力杯,吃得到綿密慕斯、香醇酒凍,和巧克力蛋糕,多種口感在舌尖融化。巧克力專賣店"畬室",把台灣食材麻油、馬告結合巧克力,拿下第一屆500甜冠軍。

“把一個原本不屬於台灣的食材巧克力,去跟台灣食材,台灣這些飲食上的習慣,例如我們有一款用傳統飲料,金桔檸檬作為風味的發想”

第二名"栗林裏",將酸甜芒果,結合濃郁酪梨,最後點綴用芒果冰淇淋,讓口感更滑順。

並列第三名的"法朋",整顆水蜜桃結合酥脆塔皮,滿口果香。法式甜點"某某",酥脆泡芙、奶油作的聖多諾黑,多了一抹熏衣草、藍莓香氣。

“當然覺得很開心,(甜點)它一直以來比較殿後的位置,但實際上在我來說,我一直都覺得,甜點也是一個養分,其實它帶給我們,很大程度的愉悅,愉快的心情”

第一屆500甜,共有356間店上榜,創意冰品,上海鬆糕都入選,勢必吸引螞蟻們,一起來感受甜蜜魅力。
