Temple hurls offerings including NT$100,000 in imported booze

2025-09-09

A ghost festival ritual turned into a wild scene at the Dalinpu Fenglin Temple in Kaohsiung’s Siaogang District. Temple staff tossed a massive haul of offerings to a crowd of eager worshippers outside the temple.

A crowd of more than 1,000 people packed the temple grounds, arms raised high and wielding umbrellas and basins to catch whatever items fell at them from the sky. And it wasn’t just snacks like cookies, there were also bottles of imported liquors valued at more than NT$100,000. Of course, they weren’t hurled at the crowd. Instead, pieces of paper with the prize were thrown out for lucky worshippers to redeem later.
