With temperatures dropping to chilly lows, many snow-lovers headed up Hehuanshan on Thursday in hopes of experiencing a white Christmas.

The Wuling Lookout was packed with people waiting for snow. That’s despite temperatures in the afternoon being a mere 1.7°C. With the possibility of snowfall at night, and icy road conditions, authorities have closed off several areas of Provincial Highway 14A. These sections became exit-only starting 5 p.m. on Thursday.
