2025-12-25

Today marks one week since last Friday’s fatal knife attacks in downtown Taipei. Mourners continued to pay their respects to the victims at makeshift memorials at Taipei Main Station and at Zhongshan shopping district. With flowers and cards, they offered their condolences to the three victims who perished. Let’s hear more.

There are so many flowers. I helped tidy up a bit. It’s very emotive. He was just like a martyr.

I’m very emotional. His attempt to block the knife saved many people from getting attacked.

It’s sad. I live near here, and I was going to take the MRT home on that day. I hope that he’s all good on the other side. And I hope that there’ll be peace in Taiwan.

Mourners have placed bouquets and wreaths near the spot where the first attack took place in Taipei Main Station. Members of the public are advised, however, to refrain from offering drinks and food. Meanwhile, the Taipei Metro has introduced new guidelines regarding passenger attire. People who wear a gas mask, filter-type respirator, helmet, or an outfit that resembles a terrorist or an armed attacker will be asked to remove them. People who do not comply will be denied entry and reported to the police.
