A charitable foundation in Taitung has been caring for people in a vegetative state. They had been bedridden for years and lacked sufficient sensory and physical stimulation. When a local massage clinic owner heard about this, he brought in his employees and gave them free massages. The owner, who has been running his business for over 20 years, said he wanted to give back to the community through this act of kindness. Let’s find out more.
Masseurs using both hands give deep tissue massages, taking care of everything from hands to legs. A Taitung massage clinic has arranged for its staff to provide free massages for people in a vegetative state who are being cared for by a foundation.

Foot massages and hand massages – these deep tissue massages—can actually stimulate the functions of their internal organs. And then also listening to music and the stimulation of essential oil scents can help these people to have beneficial stimulation of their various sense organs.
Although people in a vegetative state cannot express themselves verbally, the slightest physical movements and facial expressions during the massage deeply move the volunteers who are massaging them.

Since many of them had never encountered such special cases—patients confined to hospital beds --when they see their happy expressions and body movements after providing services to them, it gives them an enormous sense of accomplishment.
Through the professionalism of the massage therapists, these people in a vegetative state can relax both physically and mentally. The manager’s loving actions are one of the most practical gifts around for warming up people during the cold winter.

台東一家基金會內照護的植物人，因為長年臥病在床缺乏足夠的感觀和肢體刺激，當地有按摩店業者得知後，帶著員工們到現場替他們免費按摩，業者也說開店20多年，希望用行動回饋社會。
按摩師們用雙手進行深層推拿，從手部到腿部，全都照顧到，來自台東的一家按摩店，帶著員工，為基金會內照護的植物人免費按摩。

“那我們開店的初衷就是說，我們必須要取之於社會，用之於社會，所以我們公司的最大宗旨，就是當你有了能力，也必須要去服務別人”

“腳底按摩跟手部的一些按摩，這種深層的，其實更能夠再刺激到他們內臟的一些機能，還有一些音樂上的一個聆聽，精油味道的刺激，都可以幫助我們植物人，在各種感官都能夠有很好的刺激”
雖然植物人無法用語言表達，但在按摩的過程中，一點點的肢體動作和表情的回饋，都讓這些替他們按摩的志工們相當感動。
