A 29-year old man from Singapore, Mr. Lim fell into to a valley while climbing the 3,524m Pingtian Mountain on his own. Fortunately, he was saved, despite the harsh weather and having lost much of his gear.

So what saved him? Turns out, he had a low-orbit satellite communication device that allowed him to make an emergency SOS call after he fell around 8 p.m. Tuesday. The device also allowed rescuers to quickly track his whereabouts, and he was located and rescued on the very next day, at 12:30 a.m.
