
People have recently been recommending a lunchbox restaurant in Yunlin’s Kouhu Township. Meals at Salt Worker Biandang are served with both mullet roe and grilled eel, making for an opulent seafood feast. The flavor is not only complex, but the chef also includes products produced locally, drawing people from far and wide just to try it.
A large piece of mullet roe is drizzled with kaoliang wine, and left sizzling from the flames. The surface is a crispy golden color, enticing diners to take a bite. This is Salt Worker Biandang near the visitors’ center in Yunlin County’s Kouhu Township. One of the mains is this mullet roe. The other is grilled eel.
With two mains, plus a selection of seasonal vegetables adorned with fresh fruit on the side, this opulent set meal is worth a special visit for a lot of gourmets.
Diner
It’s good if it’s fresh. I just had the eel. Its meat is springy, yet firm. It has enough sea flavor. It tastes fresh. There basically weren’t any bones.
This lunchbox was inspired by Japanese set meals. The chef uses roe and eel produced locally in Yunlin and Kouhu, paired with a variety of fruits and veggies. It’s a feast for the eyes as well as the stomach.

The biggest specialty at Salt Worker Biandang is that they use local products. For instance, they serve eel and mullet roe together. The eel they use are about 200g each and particularly tender. The bones are also not very hard. They also use our local mullet roe. This roe was produced by a vender that’s been in the business for over 60 years.
Mullet roe and eel are two of the main seafood products produced in Kouhu. Mix in a little creativity, and these local specialties can help simulate local tourism as well as the economy.

雲林口湖近期有人推出的「鹽工便當」,是以烏魚子與蒲燒鰻作為雙主菜,打造出的豪華海味便當,不但口感層次豐富,更是融合當地水產,吸引眾多饕客專程前來品嚐。
大塊烏魚子,淋上高粱酒,被火烤的滋滋作響,表皮金黃焦脆,讓人看得食指大動。這是雲林口湖遊客中心近期推出的「鹽工便當」,其中一項主菜是當地特產烏魚子,另一道則是蒲燒鰻魚。
雙主菜加上當季時蔬,一旁還有水果點綴,這份豪華海味定食,吸引眾多饕客專程前來品嚐。

“鮮就是好,我剛剛吃得鰻魚,牠的肉質真的很Q彈扎實,海味很夠,有鮮(味)的感覺,幾乎吃不出什麼魚刺”
這款「鹽工便當」靈感來自日式定食,選用雲林口湖當地的優質烏魚子和鰻魚,再搭配五顏六色的時蔬,不管是視覺還是味覺,都有滿滿的饗宴。

“鹽工便當最主要的特色,就是把我們在地的特色物產,譬如說鰻魚跟烏魚子做一個結合,鰻魚是選用三尾斤左右,特別肥嫩,刺也沒有那麼硬。還有我們在地的烏魚子,烏魚子是取用我們當地,加工歷史已經超過60年以上的業者,所生產的烏魚子”
烏魚與鰻魚是雲林口湖2大養殖水產,業者發揮創意,融合在地特色,成功帶動地方觀光與經濟發展。
