Concerts boost Kaohsiung to Taiwan’s top travel destination

Kaohsiung welcomed 69.23 million visitors last year, the most in Taiwan. Events large and small were the biggest draw, including the New Year’s Eve concert, Kaohsiung Wonderland, and Cijin Kite Festival. That’s not to mention the enormous business opportunities brought by hosting major concerts. Hotels have seen the benefits with significant increases in occupancy rates. Travelers themselves are also impressed with the changes they’ve seen in the southern port city.

Kaohsiung Wonderland was a sensation around Taiwan, and 9 million people came to see the adorable yellow ducks. In the summer, families flocked to the Cijin Kite Festival.
Thanks to these events, Kaohsiung is on people’s radar more than ever before. And that’s in addition to the crowds who take the light rail to the Pier 2 Art Center every day.

Kaohsiung regularly holds all sorts of arts and cultural events, attracting lots of visitors. Concerts are an especially big draw.
In 2023, Kaohsiung hosted 117 concerts. By last year, that had increased to 157. Domestic and foreign bands alike have graced stages in the city, even drawing fans from abroad. Hoteliers say they can see the effect from occupancy rates alone.

Occupancy increased 30% in 2023 and 13% in 2024. In the first quarter of this year, it’s already increased by nearly 50% from the same period in 2022.

The hotel also offers package tours in conjunction with events in the city, which in turn has boosted occupancy rates by 10 to 20% or more over the past few years.
Local business owners are also feeling the benefits of this recent influx of tourism.

Some people have trouble accepting all the achievements from these past few years. They don’t want to admit the massive advances in Kaohsiung’s tourism industry. But the people of Kaohsiung know it to be true.
Kaohsiung was even named among the top 10 travel destinations in the world, the only place in Taiwan to make the list.

高雄市2024年觀光遊客人次，達到6923萬，拿下全國第一，細數2024年大大小小的活動，從跨年演唱會、冬日遊樂園到旗津風箏節等等，都吸引大批遊客到訪，更別說還有超強的演唱會商機，人潮帶來錢潮，眾多飯店住房率都有顯著提升，旅客也大讚，高雄改變看得見。

轟動全台的冬季遊樂園，超萌"黃色小鴨"吸引超過900萬人次來朝聖，夏季則有親子同歡的旗津風箏節。
各式吸睛活動接力，高雄的改變確實讓人看見，就連平常日搭輕軌到駁二特區的遊客也不少。

“高雄定時舉辦各式各樣藝文活動，吸引許多遊客前來而演唱會經濟，也讓觀光人次大爆發。”
2023年高雄舉辦了117場演唱會，2024年更是增加到157場，國內外歌手團體接連開唱，連帶的世界各地的歌迷也順道在港都旅遊，飯店業者說，光從住房率就能看到，觀光人次的增長。

“在2023年的住客人次，成長三成，在2024則是成長13%，在今年度的第一季，我們的住房人次，較2022年已成長近5成。”

“那飯店也結合了這些城市活動，推出了許多的套裝行程，連帶也帶動了飯店的住房率，像飯店近年來的住房率，就提升了1到2成以上。”
遊客到訪逐年增加，在地人最有感，因為人潮就帶來錢潮。

高雄也入選旅遊平台的全球新興旅遊前10大目的地，是全台唯一上榜。
