Miaoli man lost mound of cash and multiple gold bars after spending a night at the park

Visitors to Maolishan Park in Miaoli spotted a mound of cash and seven gold bars near the steps, but no one dared pick them up, fearing that it’s a trap set up by scammers nearby. The sighting was only reported to the police much later by park authorities. Turns out, it belonged to an elderly resident who lives alone and always carries his valuables on himself. He had spent the night at the park because he couldn’t find his keys.
A mountain of cash was found near the steps in Maolishan Park. There’s renminbi and Taiwan dollars, and underneath the cash were multiple gold bars. Enticing? But no one dared touch it with a pole.
Each gold bar weighs 187.5g. At current retail prices, all seven bars in total are worth around NT$5.25 million. The cash were more than 10,000 Chinese yuan and more than NT$60,000.

A local resident found a bunch of stuff. No one knew what it was and no one dared touch it. There were lots of gold bars and cash in Taiwan dollars and renminbi. It’s really worth a lot.
Police found the owner by calling the number listed on the certificate for authenticity for the gold bars.

The old man was worried that leaving his valuables at home could risk them getting stolen, so he carries them on himself at all times. The night before, he had fallen asleep at the park. He forgot to check that he had all his belongings and so he left the valuables where he was sleeping.
The man also told the police that he slept at the park because he lost the keys to his home. After he recovered the belongings, the police advised him to get a safe for his valuables instead.

詐騙? 貓裏山公園驚見"七金條.現鈔" 民眾嚇壞報警

有民眾到苗栗貓裏山公園運動，在一處花圃旁，發現大量台幣及人民幣現鈔散落，還有七塊黃金金條!誤以為是詐騙集團的新手法，嚇得沒人敢撿。最後由公所人員報案，警方透過監視器追查到金條主人，是一名獨居老翁，他說擔心黃金放家裡會被偷，才會隨身攜帶，昨晚睡公園，一早起床後，卻忘了帶走。
貓裏山公園的花圃旁，出現大量現鈔，有人民幣還有新台幣，更誇張的還有純金金條，民眾嚇得不趕撿。
每塊金條重達五兩，七條換算銀樓售價，總價值約525萬，還有人民幣一萬多及台幣六萬多元。

“我們鄉親就有發現有一堆東西，因為大家也不知道是什麼東西，所以也沒人敢動它，裡面有很多的金條，跟有新台幣也有人民幣，真的價值不斐”
員警透過保證書上的電話，聯絡上金條主人。

“老翁表示因擔心該財物放在家中會遭竊，所以將財物隨身攜帶，當晚因在公園睡著，早上醒來忘記清點物品，而將該筆財物遺留在案發地”
他向警方表示，因為家中鑰匙不見了，才會睡公園，警方也建議他，把黃金放到銀行保險箱吧，比帶在身邊安全多了。
