Cowboy town in Texas preserves charm of the Wild West

2025-11-11

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to be a cowboy in the Wild West? Today FTV takes you to a cowboy town in Fort Worth, Texas, that preserves the American pioneering spirit. It’s replete with longhorn cattle drives and quaint wooden stores. Let’s take a look.

Wearing cowboy hats and cowboy boots, people walk in this cowboy town in Fort Worth, Texas. It has traditional stone brick roads and streets lined with wooden shops. The atmosphere is replete with the spirit of the Wild West.

Tourists can take a horse-drawn carriage around the block and take photos sitting on famous Texas longhorn cattle. Even if it is only for one ride, it costs US$10, or roughly NT$300 – but tourists are willing to pay.

Walk a little further back and you’ll see this. It was actually the largest cattle trading center in the US from the late 19th to early 20th century.

Once the largest cattle center in the United States, the town is one of the best preserved from its era. Every year it hosts more than 1,000 events. In addition to the exciting cowboy skills competition, there’s another event you can’t miss.

There are two cattle drives every day, driven by real cowboys. The famous Texas longhorns take part. The streets are closed like this twice a day. At this time, the entire historic district will be lined with a lot of onlookers.

The town attracts more than 10 million tourists every year, supports more than 30,000 jobs, and generates more than US$3.5 billion, or about NT$113.7 billion in tourism-related business opportunities each year. A century after the heyday of cowboys, the charm of the Wild West is still as seductive as ever.
