Flute concert pays tribute to Taiwan’s master composers

A flute concert is paying tribute to Taiwan’s most influential composers from the past 50 years. The performance blends sound, space, and light to create a sensory journey through the island’s musical history. FTV reporter Stephany Yang takes us in for a look.
The concert will feature eight iconic compositions by renowned Taiwanese composers. Among the highlights are Hsu Tsang-houei’s The Blind, Ma Shui-long’s Fantasia for Flute, and Yang Tsung-hsien’s Chan-Tek – For Flute Solo

By my generation, we’re already the third or fourth generation, which is why we hope to carry on the legacy so that in every generation, someone continues this work. This year marks the 10th anniversary memorial concert for Ma Shui-Long, a composer who holds great significance in Taiwan. We also feature works by Professor Yang Tsung-hsien, whose works have also been passed down through generations. These pieces were selected from among the most important flute compositions in Taiwan.
Curated by Paris-trained flutist Yang Chih-yueh, the concert pays homage to Taiwan’s most influential composers of the past half-century. Following the performances, a series of lectures will further explore the historical and cultural context of the music.

The lecture will guide the audience through the history, helping everyone understand that Taiwan’s 50 years of music is not distant. It carries the warmth of Taiwan, the essence of its land, and reflects the shared growth and nurturing that has taken place here.
The concerts will take place in Taipei on Nov. 15 at the NTU Center for the Arts, and in Kaohsiung on Nov. 18 at the National Kaohsiung Center for the Arts.

"向臺灣作曲大師致敬 長笛篇" 11/15台北、11/18高雄演出

由長笛演奏家楊智越策畫的長笛音樂會即將在台北和高雄登場，集結五十年來8名重要台灣作曲家的作品，演出將融合聲音、空間與光影。
音樂會將呈現八首由知名台灣作曲家創作的經典作品。包括許常惠的《盲》，馬水龍的《長笛幻想曲》，以及楊聰賢的《讚竹》。

“到我這代等於已經是第三代或是第四代了，才會希望一路傳承下來，在每一代都有人去做這件事情。馬水龍剛好是今年十周年的紀念音樂會，也是在台灣非常重要的作曲家。我們還有楊聰賢老師的作品，也都是一代一代傳承下來，按照長笛在台灣非常重要的作品裡面去挑選出來的。"
由曾赴巴黎深造的長笛演奏家楊智越策劃，本場音樂會向過去半世紀最具影響力的台灣作曲家致敬。演出結束後，將舉辦一系列講座，深入探討音樂的歷史與文化背景。

"講座是我們結束以後，我們會跟觀眾朋友再去重現、帶入歷史的足跡裡，讓大家知道說，其實台灣50年的音樂裡面，它並不是讓人很有距離，還是有台灣的溫度、台灣的土地，跟共生在這個土地一起成長灌溉的結果跟脈絡。”
音樂會將於11月15日在台北的台大藝文中心舉行，並於11月18日在高雄衛武營登場。
