Foxtron to consolidate consumer EV business with Luxgen aquisition

Foxtron, a joint venture between Hon Hai and Yulon, has recently closed the deal to acquire all stakes in Yulon’s Luxgen car brand, for more than NT$780 million. In the same week after the announcement, Foxtron unveiled Bria, their very first consumer EV production model. Coupled with its existing OEM business, Foxtron is expected to make huge strides in the automobile sector. On the other hand, Yulon could give more weight to property development in the future.

A sleek red body and flashy rear lights. This is Bria, Foxtron’s first production electric vehicle model.

The Bria model comes in two specifications. The mid-range option has a rear-wheel drive that takes it from 0 to 100kph in 6.8 seconds; while the high-end four-wheel drive takes just 3.9 seconds. After many prototypes, Hon Hai is finally offering its very own consumer-level EV through the Foxtron brand, a joint venture with local car brand Yulon.

We often say that an EV is a computer on wheels. From that alone, Hon Hai has a good leverage, not to mention that they also do OEM for Japanese car brands. The relatively new company can therefore build a dual income stream through OEM and their own brand.

Yulon has recently agreed to transfer all assets from their Luxgen car brand to Foxtron, for a total of NT$787.6 million. The acquisition is expected to give Foxtron a consolidated chain of supply and distribution; whereas Yulon may see a shift in its business model.

Yulon actually isn’t so focused on automobiles anymore, which was where they started out. They’ve also lost their own car brand. Now that car manufacturing is no longer their core business, Yulon may shift their focus to construction and development.

Luxgen’s electric SUV introduced in 2022 and developed with Foxtron, the n7, will be the brand’s very last model should the deal follow through. Building upon Luxgen’s past success, Foxtron is ready to take on the consumer market.

鴻華收購納智捷"公開首款電動車" 專家:裕隆已失去汽車本業

日前,鴻海才宣布以超過7.8億元,收購裕隆的汽車品牌"納智捷",馬上就推出鴻華自己的第一款電動車。鴻華先進強調自主研發設計,同時爭取日本三菱代工,積極布局汽車產業。反觀裕隆集團,專家分析已沒有過去的汽車本業,未來可能走向土地資產開發。

紅色車身、動態迎賓燈,鴻海集團旗下的鴻華先進,推出品牌第一款電動車Foxtron Bria。

Bria中階車款,後輪驅動0到百加速6.8秒,高階、四輪驅動款只要3.9秒。鴻海集團布局電動車多年,如今要以自有品牌,搶攻市場。

"很常講,電動車是一個會跑的電腦,在這一個部分的話,鴻海的著力點就會比較大一點,他也有幫日系的汽車做電動車代工,慢慢藉由代工也好,或是自有品牌也好,雙收入的引擎來穩定這家新公司。"

裕隆把納智捷100%股權,轉讓給與鴻海集團合資成立的"鴻華先進",交易金額7.876億。交割完成後,鴻海接收相關資產和經銷通路,拼湊出更完整的汽車產業版圖,裕隆失去本業之後,企業恐怕面臨大轉型。

"其實汽車本業這一塊幾乎是沒有著墨了,自有品牌也沒有了。(汽車)製造或是代工已經退出到很邊緣,裕隆之後的走向會比較屬於土地資產開發。"

2022年兩家公司合作的電動休旅n7,會是納智捷品牌末代車款,鴻華先進則將以自有品牌Foxtron,放眼國內外市場。
