The visionary man was seen walking on the street with a rooftop turbine vent plopped on his head. The metal accessory spun around him as he strutted along, catching the eye of passersby. Vents like these are usually installed on the top of buildings to disperse heat from indoors. But this inventive man customized a helmet to plop the vent on his own head and create a whimsy accessory. Though it may keep his fit feeling fresh, experts say there’s nothing cooling about the cool headwear. In fact, it can be quite dangerous, as the edges of the turbine blades are extremely sharp. What’s more, vents usually weigh between 1kg and 3kg, meaning you really have to suffer for fashion.

"渦輪散熱器"戴頭上! 民眾傻眼直呼:如移動殺器

高雄天氣炎熱，不少民眾會戴帽子或撐傘，但卻有人目擊一名男子，竟然熱到直接把應該架設在鐵皮屋頂樓的渦輪散熱器，戴在自己的頭上，當作散熱帽，民眾看傻眼，直呼這種造型實在太搞笑，專家則說這樣很危險。

俗稱通風球的散熱器，通常是安裝在建築物外來排出室內熱氣，不過這回男子疑似將散熱器經過創意改裝，固定在安全帽上再戴出門，相關業者看了是直搖頭，強調這樣的方式根本作用不大，而且邊緣極度鋒利，如同刀片一般，雖然球體本身輕，但重量也有約一到三公斤左右，隨著轉動具有一定危險性。

However, these job seekers don’t intend to stay in Taipei; their target is Tainan. Ms. Chao and her husband, who are nearly 50 years old, are planning to return to Tainan, their hometown. They are not only thinking of taking care of their elderly parents in the area, but also considering their quality of life.

Salaries are of course important, but quality of life is also extremely important. If I move back south, I feel the overall vibe—and the quality of life—is just much more comfortable.

According to the latest survey from a job bank, as many as 70% of office workers are optimistic about Tainan’s future development, and nearly 60% of respondents are willing to stay in Tainan to forge careers.

With the Southern Taiwan Science Park and the Shalun Smart Green Energy Science City as its two engines, Tainan’s industries such as semiconductors, AI, and quantum advanced manufacturing are rapidly flourishing. Since 2019, there have been 2,069 new investment projects, creating more than 67,000 job opportunities.

AI industry clusters are taking shape in the Southern Taiwan Science Park. The Tainan City Government is also working with job banks to proactively hold recruitment events to attract talent.

Reckless SUV driver turns Taichung roads into late-night drift track

A reckless driver turned the streets of Taichung into his own private late-night drift track, performing donuts at multiple busy intersections over a distance of at least 10 km. Dashcam footage from stunned motorists shows the same grey SUV spinning through junction after junction, leaving behind tire marks and shocked witnesses. Police are looking for the driver, who is facing multiple fines across jurisdictions and a potential license plate suspension.

Over at a different intersection, that SUV pulled off the same trick, this time crossing over two lanes. The driver clearly thinks the roads are his private drift track, and other road users are left scrambling to keep a distance. Less than 5 minutes later… yet another repeat at a different intersection.

As everyone waits for the green light, the grey SUV does, one, two, three donuts in the middle, then pedal to the metal and off he goes again.

Tire marks are visible at the intersections. The reckless driver took to the streets at 1 in the early hours of Monday. The driver set off from Taiwan Boulevard, performing donuts at the intersections in Xiangshang, Xitun, Xinxing and Henan.

The driver could face a maximum fine of NT$36,000 and have the vehicle’s license plate suspended for six months. Since he posed a serious danger to other road users, the driver may also be investigated on suspicion of endangering public safety. We will notify the vehicle owner to report to the police as soon as possible.

Police say the driver committed traffic violations across multiple jurisdictions, meaning the fines and penalties can be stacked. Fortunately, no crashes were reported. Police are working to identify the person behind the wheel and prevent innocent road users from being put at risk.

Yilan man makes scooter into unconventional marriage celebration

Have you ever seen a celebration like this before? To celebrate his “escape” from singlehood six months ago, a man in Yilan began decorating his 20-year-old scooter with all kinds of toys and trinkets. While it looks joyous, police said it that illegal vehicle mods are subject to fines of NT$900 to NT$1,800, along with a mandatory re-inspection.

This might be the most tricked-out scooter on the road. It’s dripping with toys, including different versions of Shin-chan and Shiro. The body itself is covered with stickers from top to bottom, with an entire pillow hanging from the front.

And there’s music, too? The owner found the standard horn too annoying, so he replaced it with this musical doorbell instead. The entire thing is flamboyant and overly cute, almost like a miniature parade float. Trinkets hanging off the front and helmet read “off the market.”

To preserve the marine environment, Penghu only allows harvest of sea urchins larger than 8cm in July and August, meaning that demand constantly outstrips supply. In response to these constraints, some businesses are developing techniques to cultivate them in farms. But raising good sea urchins first requires growing quality algae. Maintaining sustainable oceans is far from simple. Let’s take a look at the hard work these businesses are putting in to make sure consumers can enjoy delicious sea urchin year-round.

Farmers say that raising sea urchins isn’t difficult. The hard part is securing a reliable food source for them.

It’s a challenge if you want to expand your operations, unless you can grow algae successfully at scale. But growing that much algae depends on timing.

Sea urchins mainly eat algae and kelp. But how much can grow each year is constrained by the seasons, weather, and even water temperature and quality. As a result, the farm can only produce a maximum of around 12,000 sea urchins per year.

I really admire them. This isn’t easy at all. The farm has to be kept very clean. And since sea urchins feed on algae, they have to grow the algae themselves, too.

Penghu sea urchins can only be caught in the wild for two months out of the year. Although they can be grown in farms year-round, current technological and scale limitations mean there are still challenges to overcome.

IT exhibition features AI interviewer and robotic dog

Can you imagine going for a job interview and facing not a human interviewer but AI that can practically read your mind? An IT company has unveiled its latest integrated AI app, which features an AI interviewer. It not only reviews resumes, it can even scrutinize the human subject’s smallest expressions and traits through a camera. In addition, there is a new patrol at the factory! The exhibit also featured a robotic dog that can assess whether a site has potential danger as it goes on patrol.

Standing in front of the camera, this job seeker is quite nervous. As she introduces herself, she must also maintain a perfect smile. But the AI interviewer on the other side of the camera has already figured her out.

Many of these cases are for listed companies because the companies are large and have greater needs. In the past, the accuracy rate was just one or two out of ten applicants, and now AI can find three to five qualified applicants.

Mr. Lin’s IT group and National Taiwan Normal University collaborated in developing this app that allows interviews to be carried out in any place. Just from a job seeker’s tone of voice, facial expressions, and the keywords that you put in, the app can automatically generate a detailed assessment of the person’s talent. This not only saves travel time for job seekers, but it significantly improves the efficiency of interviews as a company attempts to find the best candidate.

If you took out a weapon, this robot nicknamed Sentinel would instantly change its posture and be ready to strike. Moreover, this robotic dog can enter dangerous areas such as places with high temperatures and low oxygen. With facial recognition ability, it can immediately report any threat, further improving the efficiency of a task.

With declining birth rates and labor shortage looming, human-machine collaboration models are making headway. With the help of AI, employees’ time is saved and companies can find the right people more efficiently.
