Team Taiwan captain celebrates two consecutive wins at Premier12

Team Taiwan has won both of its matches so far in the Premier 12 tournament. And one of the outstanding players in the contest is proving to be team captain Chen Chieh-hsien. He’s had a stellar showing so far, hitting a two-run homer against South Korea on Wednesday and making three hits against the Dominican Republic on Thursday.

Team Taiwan captain Chen Chieh-hsien, who plays for the Uni-President 7-Eleven Lions says his batting hasn’t been great since the end of the season. Fortunately, he’s getting his touch back in time for the Premier12 tournament.

At the top of the first inning, Chen made Taiwan’s first hit against the Dominican Republic. Though he was unable to turn that into a run, his showing as captain was an inspiration for his teammates. Throughout the game, he made three hits in four at-bats, and one steal. But his most memorable moment so far this tournament was in the previous game versus South Korea, when he struck a two-run homer.

Taiwan has emerged victorious twice in a row in the group stage, greatly in part to Chen’s efforts. His batting average so far in the tournament stands at a whopping .714.

First of all, I would like to thank Manager Tseng. Before the game today, I wasn’t in good shape, yet I was placed third in the running order at such an important opening game. I didn’t hit the home run because I’m an amazing player. I hit it because of all the support from my teammates. Thank you.

After each of the games, Team Taiwan celebrated their home runs with a fun dance. Morale is high for the team, who are sticking together to progress in the competition.
