
The chef of a Michelin-recommended restaurant in Tainan not only collects recipes, but also antiques. Over 15 years, he has collected thousands of old Taiwanese artifacts, from old bicycles, carts, and record players, to everyday household items. Visiting his home is like stepping into the past.
With this vintage lamp, antique signs, glass bottles, and sodas, coming here is like traveling back in time. This impressive antique collection belongs to the head chef of a Michelin-recommended restaurant.

Those things were basically all damaged during demolitions, so it’s impressive that he could acquire them intact.
The collector is none other than Chou Jung-tang, whose restaurant has been recommended by the Michelin guide for four consecutive years. When he isn’t making delicious food, he fills his time with collecting antiques.

All these things inspire nostalgia in us Taiwanese, so I just kept collecting and collecting. I always say it’s like having cancer. There’s no cure, and the more you collect, the more it grows.
These drawers play music when opened, which Chou says is an old anti-theft technique. This museum of Taiwanese artifacts has thousands of antiques, including many kinds of carts and daily essentials.

I prefer to collect things that Taiwanese people used for business and tools for daily life. If I can collect it, I feel very happy.
People need to arrange a time to visit the museum, limiting the amount of people in the space at once. Here, people can catch a glimpse into the past and reminisce about the old times in Taiwan.

特色牛奶燈、糖罐、老式招牌,來到這裡,就像回到過去,這是一家餐廳主廚,將收藏品匯集打造出台灣文物收藏館。

"包括一些機器,像是下面有一些唱盤,都是請一些專門的師傅來用,所以我覺得看到以前古早曾看到的東西,我們會感覺很懷念。"

"因為以前那些東西,在拆遷的時候,基本上都損壞,他可以收到完整的很厲害。"
收藏家就是周榮棠,他旗下的餐廳,已經連續四年獲選米其林必比登推介,而他不只燒一手好菜,更對收藏老物,有濃烈興趣。

"這都屬於我們台灣人在地的一些情感,所以一直收一直收一直收,我都形容自己說,就像是罹癌一樣,醫都醫不好,越收越多這樣。"
隨著抽屜開開關關發出音樂聲,周榮棠就分享,這是早期的防盜抽屜。這間台灣文物收藏館,裡頭有數以千計的台灣老物,包含各行各業的古早攤車,跟生活雜貨應有盡有。

"我比較喜歡收一些,台灣真的人家在做生意,人民生活的一些工具這樣,我感覺如果我能收藏到,就會感到非常開心。"
目前收藏館,提供預約體驗,就是希望控制人流,讓民眾能好好欣賞台灣早期的生活點滴,一起重溫舊時代的記憶。
