150,000+ eggs contaminated with pesticide entered Taiwan market

About 150,000 eggs potentially contaminated with pesticides have entered the Taiwan market in nine cities and counties. The eggs were for sale in many major retailers including PX Mart and Funcom Supermarket. All eggs in the lot have been pulled from shelves, but since they were produced in October, most have already been consumed. The FDA has launched a probe into the farm and will only allow its products to be sold after they are confirmed safe. Let’s hear more.

We go through about 23 million eggs every day. The farm affected has about 50,000 hens, which produce 40,000 eggs a day. We will start batch-by-batch tests to ensure they are safe to eat. A person weighing 60kg would have to have eaten 100 eggs in one sitting in order to get poisoned. Consuming so many eggs would be problematic to begin with, so that situation is unlikely. For chronic poisoning, you would have to eat 7 or 8 over a long period of time.
The FDA has urged consumers to check the traceability codes of their eggs, and not to eat them if they are from the affected batch. The farm in question provided eggs for egg-sorting facilities, as well as loose eggs to two markets in Central Taiwan. If you find problematic eggs at home, you can take them back to the shop for a refund.

全台又爆’’芬普尼蛋’’，查到15萬顆流入全台9縣市，包括全聯、楓康等通路商都有引進，已經緊急下架回收，但這一批問題蛋是10月出產，恐怕絕大多數已經被消費者吃下肚，食藥署表示，已經針對這家畜牧場全面檢驗，確定沒問題才放行。

“我們一天喔，我們要2300萬顆蛋，這家大概是有5萬隻雞，生產率大概是4萬顆蛋，這4萬顆蛋我們接下來的每一天每一批，一定是逐批，確立安全才會放行。如果是很短時間，吃了之後會急性中毒的，(體重)60公斤的，要吃100顆蛋，我想這是100顆蛋這樣吃法非常不健康的行為，我想應該也不至於有這種的。對於慢性的(中毒)，我們大概7到8顆左右的量。”
食藥署要民眾先辨識，有沒有買到問題蛋，有，就退貨，有疑慮，就不要吃，只是，這家畜牧場除了供貨給洗選場，也提供散蛋給中部2家市場業者，散蛋也全部下架。至於已經被消費者買回家的問題蛋，只能靠民眾自己辨識。
