An influencer named RJ unexpectedly discovered a public broadcast system when filming at Fuling Temple in Chiayi’s Dongshi Township. By putting in just NT$30, anyone can use the system to make a one-minute announcement that can be heard up to a kilometer away. RJ joked that people could use this to chat or sing a song, but temple officials said residents use it to look for people and sell things, and that visitors looking to use it to sing would likely be prohibited.
RJ the influencer is a little shy while greeting the temple’s neighbors through its public broadcast system. He came to Fuling Temple in Chiayi’s Dongshih Township to film and was surprised to find that he could make public announcements here.
By putting just NT$30 into the machine, anyone can make an announcement for the surrounding community to hear. After RJ’s public greeting, some fans of his even came to find him.

Old temples have this. If there’s something going on in the temple or the surrounding community, we’ll announce it. The entire village, two to three hundred households, can all hear it, because there are over 20 speakers.
This public broadcast system has been around for over 50 years, and the 700 people living in the one-kilometer radius of the temple can all hear its announcements. The broadcast system plays a crucial role in the community.

People selling vegetables and fish will announce it to get people to come and buy their produce. If there are any public matters, we’ll also announce it.
The local community uses this to sell goods, find people, and make public announcements. But NT$30 only gets one minute of airtime, so it’s important to make the broadcast concise. Temple officials said it can only be used for important matters, not for singing or simply sharing opinions, as it might annoy people living nearby.

一名網紅RJ，到嘉義東石鄉三塊厝福靈宮拍攝，意外發現廟內有台投幣式廣播系統，只要投入30元，就能講一分鐘，打趣的說可以來唱歌跟聊天，廟方說，這台廣播器，廣播可達一公里遠，居民常常使用來找人、販賣物品，非常方便，不過若遊客想來一展歌喉，可是會被拒絕。
對著廣播系統，講到害羞起來，網紅RJ，來到嘉義東石鄉三塊厝福靈宮，竟意外發現這投幣式廣播系統，可以講話給全村聽。
廟方人員說，只要投下30元，就能使用廣播系統跟全村聊天，不料廣播之後還真的有粉絲上門。

“舊廟就有了，如果我們廟裡有什麼事件，或是村內有什麼事情，我們就會用廣播。兩三百戶的人全部的人全村都聽得到，因為光廣播喇叭，就有20多支。”
這台廣播系統，已經有超過50年歷史，廣播在福靈宮一公里內都能聽得見，粗估周邊有260多戶，約700位民眾可以聽到廣播，對村民來說，大大小小事情全靠他。

“菜販、魚販，他們會廣播，希望要買的人出來，當然有公事我們自己也會廣播。”
叫賣、找人，通通靠這台，但講話可要注意時間，因為因為30元只能使用一分鐘，超時就會被斷電。不過廟方表示，只限於重要事情，可別拿廣播器來講心事或一展歌喉，可會引起民怨。
