Mass stabbing on Taichung MRT leaves two victims in hospital

A mass stabbing occurred on the Taichung MRT Tuesday morning, leaving two people hospitalized. The suspect is a 20-year-old man surnamed Hung, who boarded the Shui-an Temple Station with three knives. As soon as he got on the train, he began a random stabbing spree, but was subdued by three brave passengers.

The suspect, wearing a brown jacket, first attacks a passenger with a kitchen knife. After being disarmed, he quickly picks up a fruit knife from the floor.

Knife in hand, he walks to the other side of the car and continues his attack.

Passengers rush to stop him, and a man in black manages to grab the assailant’s hand.

People started to tackle him, and I ended up grabbing his arm. He still had a fruit knife. Everyone was hitting him on the head.

There was people and he was coming toward us with a knife, after he hit the man in the neck, I think. And we grabbed him and started to hit him in the head, and grab his shirt, and try to pull him down.

The incident occurred on the Taichung MRT just after 11 in the morning. The suspect boarded at Shui-an Temple Station. As the train moved toward Taichung City Hall, he launched an indiscriminate attack.

The attacker did not know the victims. An investigation is underway to establish a motive.

The suspect is a 20-year-old man surnamed Hung. After being subdued by passengers, he was taken to the hospital under police surveillance. He is being investigated for attempted murder.

Before being loaded on the ambulance, the suspect reportedly apologized. Two passengers who had tried to stop him were also sent to the hospital with injuries.

One victim is a 17-year-old who sustained three lacerations totaling 22 centimeters, across his right shoulder, right side of his chest, and right upper arm. These were all muscle injuries.

One victim was a 17-year-old with injuries to his shoulder and chest. He underwent emergency surgery. Taichung Mayor Lu Shiow-yen rushed to the hospital to check on the victims.

His father says he understands that this was an unforeseeable event. He says his family can get by, so he wants to donate any consolation payments to Taichung’s emergency relief account. I said there was no need, but he insisted.

The other victim was a 27-year-old man, who sustained a 9-centimeter gash on his face.

Everyone rushed forward, screaming. There was a brave young man who stopped him.

The young man in question, surnamed Hsu, is an award-winning power lifter. After the incident, his Instagram account was flooded with messages from fans calling him a hero and thanking him for his bravery.

台中捷運驚傳持刀攻擊殺人事件!今天(21日)上午11點左右,一名身穿咖啡色外套的20歲男子,在捷運水安宮站上車,身上預藏三把刀,他一走進車廂,就拿出刀子,隨機猛刺其他乘客,其中有3人英勇上前制止嫌犯,其他乘客再一擁而上反擊,過程中造成連同凶嫌在內,共3人受傷送醫。

穿咖啡色外套的嫌犯,拿菜刀砍傷人之後,刀子被奪走,他又從地上,拿起了一把水果刀。

嫌犯朝車廂另一頭,走過來,手拿刀子往前方猛刺。

乘客一擁而上,這位穿黑衣的男士,趁機抓住嫌犯的手。

“一群人先去壓他,我最後是壓著他的手,他還有水果刀,大家就狂打他的頭。”

“那個人拿刀向我們走來,他攻擊男子頸部,我們抓住他,打他的頭,抓住他的衣服,試圖要制伏他。”

發生在台中捷運,21日上午十一點多,嫌犯從水安宮站上車,列車往市政府站前進,嫌犯竟然無差別行兇。

“目前是不認識我們受傷的民眾,至於動機部分,我們還要進一步再釐清楚。”

行兇的20歲洪姓嫌犯,在第一時間遭到乘客制伏之後,由台中市警方戒護送醫治療,偵訊後依殺人未遂罪嫌送辦。

嫌犯被上救護車前,說了對不起,但已經太遲了,因為早有兩名無辜乘客,為了制止他被送進醫院。

“17歲男性病人,他是右肩、右胸、右上臂,有三處共22公分撕裂傷。有傷到肌肉。”

其中傷勢比較嚴重的17歲少年,胸肩中刀,緊急開刀,台中市長盧秀燕,第一時間趕往醫院,探視2名傷者。

“爸爸說他也了解這是一個不可預知的狀況,他說他家裡還過得去,他要用孩子的名義,把慰問金捐給台中市救助專戶,我說不用沒關係,但家長很堅持。”

除了少年,另外一位27歲男子,臉部9公分撕裂傷,可說是用命搏鬥。

“大家都哇哇叫往前衝,一個年輕人很勇敢,他制止,把他抓住。”

這名許姓男子,是名健身好手,多次參加健力比賽得名,事發後IG湧入大量網友,紛紛大讚"英雄"、謝謝他的奮不顧身。
