TR launches healthier versions of nostalgic railway bentos

For decades, the Taiwan Railway’s bentos have been a staple of any good day trip around Taiwan. And now, new options have become available for health-conscious travelers. The railway has launched a lighter lunchbox featuring more veggies and less fried foods in collaboration with the Health Promotion Administration. The star of the dish is a tea-smoked chicken thigh, making for a tasty but less oily meal.

A massive pork chop, fried to perfection, seasoned and slathered in delicious gravy. Then there’s this mouthwatering slab of braised pork belly. The Taiwan Railway bentos have something for everyone, and now, there are even options for health-conscious passengers.

A tea-smoked chicken thigh is joined by greens and corn in the lunchbox. The Taiwan Railway has joined forces with the Health Promotion Administration to create this delicious and healthy chicken bento that does away with fried foods and processed meats. It has 25% more veggies, offers a fiber content 176% higher than other options, and contains 32% less fats.

Healthier food on the go is trending, and the TR is trying to reverse the public perception of oily railway bentos. The lighter meals are now for sale at the Taipei, Banqiao and Taoyuan railway stations. Only 100 sets will be available at lunch and dinner, twice each day.

We want this to be a continuation of the railway lunchboxes, nostalgic and delicious. The general public appreciates the old-timey taste of the bentos, and our goal is to make them more nutritious and tastier.

Healthy and delicious. But whether travelers will give up the heavier meals they’re used to remains to be seen.

台鐵推新健康便當油脂減32% 民眾接受度兩極

說到台鐵便當,油亮的排骨、肥嫩的控肉,都是很受歡迎的經典招牌,但難免高油、高鹽疑慮。隨著現代人,健康飲食風潮興起,國健署也跨界與台鐵合作,設計健康便當,例如改用茶葉燻雞腿,希望兼顧均衡營養及美味,每天限量兩百份,挑戰民眾的接受度。

好大一塊排骨,先炸後滷包住鮮甜肉汁,還有這個,滷得入味的控肉,油亮的好誘人。台鐵便當,主菜任您挑,但現在,其實有更健康的選擇!

茶葉燻製的雞腿排,下面鋪滿各種青菜,還有玉米。台鐵和國健署,跨界合作,茶香燻雞便當,摒棄油炸、加工肉,蔬菜增量25%、纖維多了176%、脂肪下降32%。

近年來健康外食興起,台鐵首度嘗試翻轉油膩印象,在臺北、板橋、桃園限定販售,每天午、晚餐各限定100個。

完全健康、又要美味,好難兼顧。台鐵便當挑戰甩開油、鹽印象,民眾買不買單,還要再看看。
